Has anyone done this on their own? Grab a cab walk around a bit and then cab back maybe? Looking for cheap options for a few hours.

Husband and I with 2 kids in tow took a taxi to the old city. We got dropped off by the clock tower and explored on our own. I would think it is very doable.

We took kids and MIL to Cartagena-not on a cruise-2 years ago. It was fantastic. Several great restaurants, fun fort tour, Mila was delicious for desserts (and a light lunch). The beaches are not that pretty unless you head

Head to a nearby island which is a day trip and will likely not work for you.
I felt safe at all times. I walked alone at night and was fine. The old town is lovely. Just keep your wits about you.
