For those of you who had a sit down meal or are going to have a sit dow meal. What did you do about food?

So far ive decided the cheese display and Fruits for the Pre Reception as its not going to be a full hour.

Then for the sit down meal i have chosen the Shrimp cocktail for the starter as i know everyone will like this.

For the main we are either having a choice of the onion crusted chicken or the Beef Medallions. Served with Garlic Mash Potatoes and Baby Vegetables.

For the dessert we are having the wedding cake served as we are then having a dessert party afterwards.

My issue is with the soup/salad course. My wedding planner said that we cannot offer a choice here and we have to have the same for everybody - the problem is i know its going to be about 50/50 of people who dont like salad or soup. So im not sure what to do?

If i skip this course is it going to make the meal to small :confused3

Any suggestions?

Personally i think that is enough food; especially if you are planning a dessert party later on. It really depends whether or not you or your guests normally eat three or more courses. When i go out i tend to stick to one or two courses so three would be a real treat! Can i come!?
I think it sounds lovely.

I understand the dilemma--I opted for Caesar Salad (NO anchovies) b/c most people like it. It seemed much safer than picking a random salad dressing (i.e. balsamic) or soup that some people might or might not like. As an aside, I think all of my guests (about 29 people) enjoyed the salad very much. Yummiest croutons ever (this was at the GF) :thumbsup2 I really think you should opt for the salad course b/c a lot of people just expect this with their meal.

Everyone knows I am an idiot regarding food (and sadly not an idiot savant). I left the entire menu up to Disney. And they did not steer me wrong (and hadn't steered me wrong with prior parties that they had put together for me). Had things been left up to me, everyone would have had a Happy Meal from the Downtown Disney McDonald's (hey, at least they'd get a toy with their meal). ;)

To read about what was served at my tasting session (and ultimately my vow renewal), click here. That post should describe things in detail, along with links to photos of the food. The meal was scrumptious and I left things exactly as-is for my vow renewal.

The only thing that wasn’t mentioned in that particular post was that Disney put together a wonderful dessert spread for the dance party portion of my vow renewal. Sadly, I didn't eat a thing at it since I was so stuffed from the dinner party. And to be honest, I don't think many folks touched the dessert spread for the very same reason (too full from dinner). But it did look lovely.

Snowwhite - i did think of this but in the UK people dont tend to have an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert, im just concerned there is going to be too much food and everyone will be over stuffed at the dessert party!

Janet2k - you always make me laugh! im the same if it were left to me it'd be burgers and hot dogs all the way! That is exactly what im worried about, people being too full from the dinner to eat the desserts at the dessert party!
