menu changes at the Auberge de Cendrillon

Inventions was a few pounds cheaper using AP because you don't get any drinks included with that - not even for children. So, we would have to buy 4 drinks there to add onto the price if we went with Shareholders. Hope that makes sense!

I mean I'm not talking a huge amount of difference, we are talking about £10 over the total of the table service restaurants we want to do. But, that is a souvenir or something :goodvibes.

Vala - I will be asking for child's option/chef's special at Auberge for definite!

Notice you mentioned Jiminy Cricket at Inventions - I would die if he were there - how fab, I've never seen him in Inventions or the DLH in general. I saw Launchpad McQuack in there on our last trip and I was so excited! The girls were looking at me like I'd gone mad as they didn't really know the character :lmao:.

Going to send you a pm now to ask more about the PTN :goodvibes.

I had forgotten that inventions didn't include drinks for children.

I knew the difference wouldn't be much but it is the reason I have definately decided against shares ;). I keep thinking about it again but can't see any real benefit. We shouldn't need a snack between breakfast and lunch and souvenir and meal discounts are more with APs apart from Auberge so it seems a bit silly!

I was so hoping to meet Launchpad - trodded there each day for the Magical Moment and nothing. Well we did see Suzy and Perla on Saturday and Rabbit on Sunday, so not a total loss. But still no Launchpad. *stomps foot*

They are switching the themes for the brunch now after all (despite the dining reservations hotline telling me it was still Brunch Hawaii) and the theme on Sunday was Italy.

At first I was like "yeah..." because I met both Pinocchio and Geppetto so often. But boyfriend was happy with food offerings. Then around the corner walks Jiminy. I don't know what noise I made, but poor boyfriend looked at me so totally confused because he had no idea why I was squealing. Kind of like "it's green and obviously neither Tinker Bell nor Louis, why is she making those noises?"

Know what you mean Jo about shares as I dithered for ages over it. I went for them as I seem to be spending a fair bit in the Disney Store these days - birthdays / easter and then Christmas later in the year - so the 10% off is handy. Plus there is the fastpass offer :thumbsup2 and the fact they are at their cheapest they have been for a long time and they are not going anywhere unless I choose to sell them...

DH and I are quite big hot drink-aholics! So a coffee mid morning at Salon Mickey will be a welcome fix! :) Even more so in cold November when we go back! :thumbsup2

We went for APs as we were lucky to get a decent room only rate (like yourself) so they have paid for themselves using the CE offer (as we got DD2's free).:)

Vala - it was in Inventions that I saw Launchpad - he used to be there a fair bit in the evening buffets. We used to sit in the bar on an evening and see him being silly through in Inventions so I'd hoped he would be there on one of our visits :thumbsup2:cool1: He was great - so funny! Would still love to meet Jiminy though - although it sounds like he was there for the 'Italy' theme so perhaps we won't on an evening :confused3. Geppetto once drew my DD1 a fantastic picture of Pinnochio on the back of an Inventions placemat - we still have it - it was amazing, he took ages doing it, and it was such a nice thing for him to do for DD :lovestruc.

Tried that too on our last trips - never found him. :headache: We couldn't work in the timing at this trip because boyfriend had promised friends we'd do Cafe Mickey with them Friday night. Saturday evening was the pin event, Sunday the brunch and Monday we had Auberge. No more room for evening dinner. :(

Jiminy was out for the Magical Moment event about two weeks or so ago. I had seen a picture of him there - that's actually why I made the last minute drawing of him. I wouldn't give up hope on seeing him around.

Dream AP only gives 10% discount on dining whereas Shareholders is 15%. Or can you use the ap at counter service too?

The snack carts won't let you use the AP. But counter service is no problem. We used it at Casey's Corner and Hakuna Matata on the weekend.

I've been discussing this with my dad tonight, and he says I should just have the veal, he doesn't understand why we eat lamb but then feel put off by veal because of the age of the animal. He says he is the same, and would never order veal, but when we discussed it he says it's silly because he would order lamb?!

I still don't know what to eat...! HUbby says he may try the goose and peaches! Has anyone eaten goose? Is it more turkey or duck in taste/texture etc.

it isn't the age of the animal it is the way they are raised. lambs are afforded the same lifestyle of any other animal used for meat. the calves used for veal are kept in ways that are not humane. they are not given a proper diet to ensure the meat is pale and tender and they are not given exercise again for the same reasons. it is quite a controversial topic and personally i would never eat veal.

im not sure about the auberge for my next trip. we have been many times and over the years it seems like you are paying more for a lot less. our last trip in october was terrible. the mice missed us and as we had an afternoon reservation they were not coming back. there were only two princesses and their princes. they were very nice and came back at the end for a group photo but overall i felt a bit ripped off.

now that they don't include the wine and the menu has changed im not sure i would be willing to pay the price to go back. hopefully their might be some great reviews between now and october. my dd always loved the pasta there so its a pity that is gone.

I do know what you mean mommy2ash. But, even for 2 princesses, you would probably have to wait for at least 2 hours on separate occasions (probably more) at the Princess Pavilion. Unless the CM is really kind and lets you see both which is unlikely if the queue is really long. If you have Princess loving DDs (like Ash and my two girls) it's difficult to get the balance right. In the OUAD parade (and Stars n Cars) there was the chance to have a brief conversation with the Princesses if you were lucky and they came over to you, but as they no longer stop, this is also ruled out. They have literally pushed the Princess meets to queuing for hours at the PP, paying excessively for Auberge or fingers crossed you see them by chance around and about! :worried: Disney really know what sells (and makes them the most bucks) and what doesn't! :scared1: Coincidentally, it's the same with a fair few of the Toy Story characters now too - Woody/Jessie etc.

lilacgems - yes, the SH does give 15% off (TS only) but because the Dream AP gives 10% off (TS & CS) plus drinks for each holder (albeit just one soft drink and only at TS), then not having to pay for that plus the 10% off, often works out better than the SH discount. Unless you are going to buy lots of drinks (in which case SH is better) or the meal is very expensive, which is the case with Auberge. In our case, I'm hoping the aperitif (and our DD's water bottles which we'll fill each day) will be enough with our meals so we don't have to spend almost £4 a drink each on top. Happy to buy drinks at the bar in the evening etc, but at meal times, they soon increase the food bill significantly if you aren't careful!
