Memory??

It depends on what format you use (jpg or RAW) and how many images you take. Also do you have a laptop or something to burn discs of your images while you are there?

I always bring several memory cards with me, usually a 2GB and a couple 1GB which is generally more than enough for me. If I know I'll be using my S3 for video than I might bring an extra 1 or 2GB. I'd rather have too much than not enough and memory is pretty cheap these days, especially if you watch for specials online, I paid $5 for my last 1GB.

Think about how many pictures you might take, look in your owner's manual to see how much memory you'll need for that many, then double it. Or triple it. :)

If you're going to take any movies with the camera, definitely have some spare...

I saw an email from buy.com this morning, they have four 1-gig Kingston SD cards for $23 after rebate... not a bad deal at all, though they're not high-speed.

I had 9 gig with me on my last 4 day trip and had to switch to jpeg so I wouldn't run out of memory. I did not have my laptop with me. Using RAW really takes a lot of memory. So, depends on if you intend to use RAW or jpeg or if you will have a laptop or other backup device with you.

I took 7GB with me and used every bit of it (7 day trip). I usually don't delete pictures until I have seen them on the computer. I will probably end up buy more memory; right now I don't shoot in RAW, but I plan to in the future.
