Last time we purchased it and liked having the pictures, but we didn't get any of the cute enhanced ones like I have seen people post (characters or borders). What do I have to do to get that?

The borders you need to add yourself during editing. As for characters, they have been some in the past that were addable as borders (things like Mickey waving at you from the corner) but most are "magic shots" that are done by Photopass shortly after they take your picture. Many photographers will have you do something that seems silly like "Pose holding your hand out here" and then when you get home Tinkerbell is sitting on your hands. Most do this without having to be asked, but some guests ask "Can you do any magic shots?" when they get pictures taken to increase their chances. Not every photographer can do magic shots (Good rule of thumb - if they have a tripod, no magic shots) and not every shot can be done by every photographer or in different locations. Some are exclusive to a particular park/land like AK is the only place to get a shot of your group holding baby Simba.

While that used to be the case (and a rule I always went by) I've been surprised the last few trips that the tripod photographers have the animated magic shots!! It may just be a holiday/special event thing, but I'd suggest asking the photogs with a tripod, too! When we ask (actually my son asked because I was going by the tripod no magic shot rule) they've said that the first one they take will automatically be a magic shot.

I've also had photographers tell us to do something special for a magic shot and when we get our photos here's us doing something silly with no purpose

If this happens you can call the number on the photopass web page and they can add the magic shot into your picture. Happened to us once and it was no problem when I called.

You can fill out the "missing photos" form on the website, specify that you're missing the magic and they can add it for you.
