Memory Maker

I use it and think it's worth it.

Family Photo's with everyone in the picture at every park and dining/show.
Rides recognizing your MagicBand so you never miss a one.

Is it worth it? How does it work?

Yes worth it for our family. We make sure to stop at the photographers where ever we see them. They take a bunch of pictures and scan one of our magic bands and they show up on our account. We get pictures of all of us and some of the boys by themselves, we get magic shots (pictures where they pose you a certain way and superimpose a character or a picture into the shot) which are great additions to the regular park pictures. We also get all the ride photos, we don't even have to scan our bands they just show up! It is great with the character meet and greets; we tell the photographers that we have MM and they just start snapping away. We get all the great candid shots not just the posed ones. This is why we will continue to purchase it every year.

We bring our lap top with us to check that they are showing up each night, if you end up missing some pictures you can call and if you know when and where they were taken they can usually find them and add them to your account.

Those who do magic shots....Do you have any issues getting the pictures printed with say Tinkerbell in your hand? We were thinking about trying these but I wasn't sure if I"d be able to use the photos in our shutterfly photobooks.

It's worth is totally subjective. I had it in November. With just my sister and I, we had over 200 pictures - posed and magic shots. Plus there was also the video from the Mine Train and some of the Magic Shots were animated. You do have to take the time to stop at the photographers so if you don't want to spend time doing that, it wouldn't be worth it. I thought it was worth it enough that I'm also getting it for my September trip as well. We're even planning one day as a "picture day" so we can get more photos and also so I can take the time to take my own photos.

We did Memory Maker and thought it was worth the cost - but it was split between two families (my sister and me). We had about 300 photos, including a lot of good ones of our whole family group. And it's fun to have the ride photos. You do have to make the effort to stop at each photo spot, though (or at least many of them).

The photographers will take pictures with your camera. I bring my nice camera and have them use that and take one with theirs... so we haven't purchased in the past. When we would get home there were always at least a few on the photo pass card that turned out better than my camera that we would purchase individually. I ended up just purchasing Memory Maker on our last trip because we already knew we'd buy a few individual (and they were like $15-20 a piece) and i liked the idea of getting ride photos included and the videos on TOT and 7DMT were fun! We liked it/ thought it was worth it and I booked again for our next trip.

What do you mean stop at the photographers? Do you mean stop to take pictures when you see a photographer? I know last time I went we had PhotoPass and you had to go into a store to purchase the pictures and that wasn't very convenient.

So when you say you get video of 7DMT with Memory Maker is it video of you during the entire ride or just a section of the ride? What exactly is it? Thanks in advance.

I use them in shutterfly books or snapfish, etc no problem. Your downloaded files come with a PDF of a copyright release. Some people say when they're ordering prints online from Walgreens, Shutterfly or the like they include the image of the release and have no problem. Others bring a printout when they go to a store to pick up photos.

Videos are about 20 seconds long and include a piece that is stock footage and connected to a brief (maybe 4-5 seconds?)video of your car on the ride. Tower of Terror is similar.

Mine train is sections of the ride, plus still photos. Also this past trip we got extra character photos that showed up in MM and pics of scenes from PotC- we had a pic taken in front of the ride; we also had a pic taken in front of HM and for pics of some scenes from the ride- including the hitchhiking ghosts. One of our pics at SWW has Ezra and Sabine "magic shot" in the pic with us.
This didn't happen with our MM last trip last June so wondering if it is new?
We also seemed to have more magic shots this year

Whenever I describe Memory Maker, I post a sort of checklist. The more of these things apply to you, the more likely you will get plenty of value for your purchase. The fewer that apply to you, you may not think it's a good purchase:
- longer trips vs. shorter
- larger number of people in your traveling party
- you like to print, scrapbook or otherwise actually use your vacation photos
- you miss having pictures with the whole family, no one missing because they're taking the shot
- you're planning to do Enchanted Tales with Belle, Jedi Training Academy, Pirates League or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (all of these take tons of photos of participants)
- you're planning to do character meet and greets - although a photographer will take photos with your own camera for free, if you're getting MM they will also snap a ton of candids while you're hugging the charater, getting your autograph, etc. These are often my fave shots
- you're doing any character meals that offer a posed photo prior to being seated (like Akershus, Cinderella's Table, Chef Mickey, Tusker House, O'Hana) note that during the meal when characters come by, you use your own camera - there are no photographers for that part
- You'll ride rides with photos (Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, 7 dwarfs, Buzz Lightyear, Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster, Test Track, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur)
- you'll stop at photographers throughout the parks for pics with the icons in the background and elsewhere
- you're interested in Magic Shots where they digitally add special effects or characters into your photo

with MM, your pictures are linked to your My Disney Experience account by either your magic band or by carrying a plastic MM card that photographers scan when you have your pictures taken. You do not need to stop to buy the pictures or even view them if you don't want to. I do recommend either viewing online or going to an in-park photo shop just to make sure your pictures are there. They sometimes dont' show up, but they can be found if you're able to provide an approximate time, place, description of the people in it, which is easiest to do when it's fresh in your mind.

Nope, no issues at all. I've done 6 shutterfly Disney books, all my own DISigns, with my iPad. They came out great. So far, they have never even asked for a release, but your photos will come with a release should you be required to prove it. I've also gotten photos printed out through Shutterfly.

Yes, I mean stop at the photographers to have the photo taken.

It's stock video of the ride combined with sections of you on the ride. Here's a link to one of the 7DMT videos I have from November - http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v230/bluetoille/MK_MINETRAIN_7099753869_zpsbxapylks.mp4

No problems. I just printed my Magic Shots off at Shutterfly as both 4 x 6 prints and in a book with scrapbook layouts I'd done and there was no problem and I didn't have to provide a release.

What are some of the magic shots available?
