Hello all we purchased the memory maker for our upcoming trip and I was looking around on the Disney site about it some more. It says
Memory Maker Waiting Period
If Memory Maker is purchased at the advance purchase price, any photos taken within 3 days of the date Memory Maker is purchased are not included and must be purchased separately.
That is not a problem for us since we are going in june and it is in my Disney. The question I do have is this since we are from Canada our magic bands do not get mailed to us they will be at front desk when we check in. Will I have to link the memory maker using that number on the back of the band for everyone in our party or will Disney automatically do it for us. If I have to do will that pictures wont count for the 1st 3 days?????
thanks
jay
hope this makes sense

The magic bands will get linked when you get there, but they have nothing to do with the waiting period for memory maker. The bands are only a link to your account, they don't store any information or trigger anything (you don't even have to have them, you can do all the same things with the cards etc). The bands just make it easier to have access to the information in your account (your memory maker, fast passes etc).

You won't have to worry about the 3 days - it is from the purchase date (now). I'm not Canadian, so not sure but you have your tickets in MDE now and just won't get the bands until arrival, right? If so, your party can all be linked together in MDE ahead of time - each person listed by name, with an associated ticket. AND you can enter your Memory Maker code ahead of time. You enter it once in your (purchaser's) account and as long as each of your party is listed as Friends and Family with the note under their name of either "you manage this account" or "This person can view and purchase your photos" then everyone is set up for their pictures to be captured.

No data is actually stored ON the bands, they are just a way of accessing the information in your MDE, so once you get the bands, you just put them on and you're ready to go!

I have linked everyone and customized our bands. The link to the memory maker is on the back of the magic bands which we will not get until check in. I tried to look into the memory maker thing and that how u can activate it by a card from the photo people themselves or the number on the magic band and then I guess u just show them ur band when they take u pic and goes on it automatically?

Oh yeah, the number on the band. . . my dad purchased MM for our extended family but I did most of the planning details & I forgot this. You may have to enter each MB number, but it's easy to do. And if you want help or didn't bring a device along, the front desk folks can help.

I am from Canada and I purchased the memory maker for my trip last July. You can link online before you pick up your bands from the resort. It was very easy, although I can't remember how. Everything was linked from the moment I checked in and picked up by bands.

The link to the memory maker is not on the back of your MagicBands. The memory maker is linked to your MDE account. All that the MagicBands do is read the information in your MDE account. That is how the MagicBands can be used as park tickets, resort room keys, methods of payment, for fastpasses and for Memory Maker. As long as you can see the Memory Maker in your MDE account. then your MagicBands will work for it. You don't have to do a thing. The CM at the resort will make sure your MagicBands are linked to your MDE.

If you can't see Memory Maker in your MDE account then you will have to manually link it. There will be a number than you can enter on the card or letter that they send to you when you buy Memory Maker.

And to answer your question on how to use Memory Maker - the Photopass photographer will ask to scan your MagicBand after they take your picture. The picture will then appear in your MDE account and you can view it later. You can bring the Memory Maker card with you, but most likely you will never be asked for it, since the MB will work, too. It is really super easy.
