Memory Maker Question...

Hey ya'll, first time poster here. I'd like some opinions to help me make up my mind on whether or not to get Memory Maker. Going to WDW for 5 days in October with hubby and 2 kids (13 & 10). We've been to Disney before but never had MM, but I like the idea of quality photos and I like the idea of ride photos/videos too. The thing is we are losing half a day in the parks driving down and are going to Universal for a full day. Also, I'm expecting the crowd level to be a bit high so idk if the photographers may be extra busy? I've never paid attention to them. So, if you had basically 3 1/2 days at WDW would you still purchase MM?

How many times photos will you want to keep? How many are you going to frame or display or put in a scrapbook or share online?

You can purchase individual photos for $15/each. You'd have to buy 12 photos for Memory Maker to be worthwhile. If you want a photo from each ride, then it probably makes sense. If you want one from each day or each park, buy them individually.

For one family of four with only three and a half days in the parks, I doubt it would be a good idea.

there was another thread recently on whether it is worth it or not. My opinion is -- it is a lot of money. If you are going for a longer trip closer to 6-7 days then you can get your monies worth of ride photos and photographer stops/magic shots. So your now 5 days is only 3 1/2 days in the parks. I don't know if it is worth it at that point. The ride photos you can estimate the value yourself -- how many of the rides you have planned offer photos and figure out what it would cost to buy each one -- I don't know how much they charge but my guess is between $15-20 per ride photo -- I have to say that our ride photos are some of the best pictures we got.

The photographer stops are what you make of it. If you get a great photographer they will make you do some great poses with and without magic shots. If you are going at a busy time then there will most likely be waits for pictures -- do you have the time to take an extra 5 minutes waiting in line for a picture. If this is going to be a fairly relaxed trip then you might feel you can take the time to get pictures. I love getting it for the amazing family pictures we never get.

At Animal Kingdom, it was $14.95 for a digital download or about $12 with my passholder discount. They were also offering Memory Maker for $59/Day, but this is a limited time special from what it looked like. I'm not sure if that was valid in only 1 park or all of them. I paid for 2 digital downloads, which came out a lot less than Memory Maker.

^^^This is a what I was thinking...if the parks are busier I don't want to be waiting for a photographer to take our picture. I'm leaving some wiggle room in our plans, but between FP's and ADR's I think I'd prefer our time not be spent worrying about pictures...

Thanks for everyone's replies! I think I'll skip it this time. I always have my phone in the parks and it's been fine before. Well, there's $169 I can add in to our extra money
