Memory Maker--only for Package bookers?

My family and I are going to Disneyworld for a conference in Nov-Dec. The conference gives us a pretty good room rate, but it's the base level room at the conference hotel only and we can't add a dining plan or anything.
I'm sortof hung up on booking the package with hotel, dining, and tickets because I have it in my head that more fun/cool stuff will be available/included. I'm probably wrong about this but i just kind of want to have it all included and taken care of.
Anyways, my question is can you get the memory maker without getting the whole magic your way package?
Sorry this was so long, I'm battling my husband on our "once in a lifetime vacation" on a tightwads budget!

Yes, you can buy Memory Maker without booking a package. I called to ask because I am doing a split stay and was told it could be bought separate.

Also, at least before our past trip in November, if you purchase ahead of time (at least 14 days?) you could get it for $149 instead of $199.

We are DVC members and book room only (also have APs). We were sent one for our upcoming trip.
