Memory Maker - activate, or does it just "work"?

I pre-purchased Memory Maker for my upcoming trip and I was wondering if I had to somehow activate it prior to my arrival...or does it just work once I get the first photo taken? I've already made sure that it, as well as my MagicBands are linked to my MDE account.

Regardless of if you actually buy MM or not, all photos taken by Disney (ride photos/videos, those taken by PP photographers) will load onto your account. When you are done with your vacation, then you will download the photos from the PP website and activate your MM subscription.

I found out the hard way yesterday. Took many pics, and they were all water marked in my MDE app. So I walked to the memory maker store at HS yesterday and she tapped the pic and the word "activate" came up, I confirmed it, the water mark went away, and my prepaid 30 days begun!!! Super easy to save from MDE app to my iphone camera role.
