Has anyone read this book? I am in the beginning of it and really don't like it. To me it just seems slow. It has been #1 for so long I can't believe it. What are your thoughts on it?

I just finished the book. I had a hard time getting into it at first, but then it picked up. I liked it a lot.

I finished it and we are discussing it tomorrow night at our book club.

It was a slow starter, then it picked up

in the last couple of chapters! LOL

Overall I liked it.

Oh I really liked it. I also thought it was a slow start but soon found it hard to put down. I loaned it to my mom who also liked it.

I just started reading this book yesterday, and so far I really like it. Usually if a book doesn't grab me within the first few chapters, I won't bother finishing it. Sometimes I'll skim through it to try to get the major facts, then read the last few pages. :)

I liked it and continue to think about it. The decision questions in the back are interesting, too. :groom:

Keep reading! It is a satisfying story. It's not a thriller or what I'd think of as a fast paced read, but more a portrait of a family over many years. I hope you end up liking it as much as I did.

I finished it a few days ago, and I really liked it. I also find that it's still on my mind.

Wow, really? I dove right into it and I'm completely caught up in it. We're reading it for my book club in November. Then again, I usually find books that people think "start slow" not slow starters at all. I hope you enjoy it by the end! :)

I liked it right from the start. It would be great for a discussion group. There are lots of thought provoking topics.

My grandmother and I both thought it was a slow start, but then it got moving and we ended up liking it.

I bought this book last weekend and it is next in line on my reading pile. I'm finishing up the second of The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts then on this one.

Glad for the warning that it starts out slow. I'll make sure to stick with it.

I really liked it - it was one of those books that I got completely lost in....and the decisions made were so heart breaking. Loved it.

Jenny :)

I really enjoyed it. There's a part in it that I gasped out loud and I rarely do that when reading.

I didn't care much for this book. I thought the natural mother was a real whiner. Talk about not appreciating what she did have ! Of course the husband was an idiot too...and I thought both of them were self-centered cowards. Other than the nurse not very likeable characters.
