memory card recovery software

Hey all, I just got off of the phone with my brother 10DedFish, he is in the World this week, and one of his memory cards took a dump with a bunch of pictures on it. I have never had this happen, does anyone have any recommendations for programs to recover his pics?

I've used picturenaut and card recovery with mixed results but they are free downloads so it is worth a try.

Those are good free programs, if he can't recover it with them, PM me, I have a ton of software for work (they cost a bit of money, but since I have em, I would be willing to take a look at it).

first tell him to put that card in a safe place and do nothing with it until he is home

I used to recommend ZAR, it works great however the last time I was trying to help a coworker out, zar wouldn't recognize the card, I used recover my photos, which costs around 40 bucks. but it worked

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! I lost over 100 photos, including my daughters picture with Snow White. I havent had time to try any yet, but ZAR will be my first attempt.

Im sorry to say that I have to lay the card to rest. It shows up as 0 (zero) bytes on the ZAR and a few other tools I've tried. Can we have a moment of silence for the picture of Snow White and myself that will be forever lost.

I had that problem with a card I was trying to recover for a friend, I tried multiple programs on multiple pcs, had the same results, then I tried it in my laptop and was able to read it, I'd be willing to try it for you if you'd like to send me the card..

another option would be to try a quick format, and then try recovering again..
