a friend of mine sent out this question.... If you can help please let me know.

anyway to restore pictures from a memory card that now shows nothing on it? The card holds 500 pics and must have been full or close to it. The message said to clean the card so my daughter took it out and wiped it on her shirt-I think it was tellin...g her to delete some pics. So now after her trip to Turks and Caicos and millions of pics later the card is now blank-any suggestions would help!Read More

If the card is not damaged there are free image recovery programs you can find on the internet. I use one that comes from Lexar with their cards. Others on this board will know their name.

If the images can be recovered these programs should work.

Wiping it on her shirt may have caused a static electricity spark that corrupted the card. So I need to say, don't do that.

Provided that the "blank" card hasn't been used some more, there is a good chance most of the pictures can be recovered. One mistake using recovery software can make things worse, though.

ZAR is a good photo recovery program,

you download the free trial, the photo recovery section works without paying for the program..

I've used it to recover photos from cards that had been wiped cleaan and formatted..

PhotoRec is a good (and free) option. I've used it in the past and it worked great.

I'd post a link but the site won't let me until my post count gets higher. Just google "photorec" and you should be good to go.

Good luck!
