Yikes! We are leaving in 14 days:cool1: and I just remembered I need to get a memory card for my digital camera. I have a Kodak Easy Share. Can anyone recommend a decent memory card and a good place to purchase? I don't need gigantic memory...something that will hold around 500 or so pictures is probably sufficient. Thanks in advance!!:goodvibes

Micro Center offers their brand of a 1Gb SD card at 9.99

I noticed their website offers the same price as their store.

There isn't any "best" memory card. Just read your manual and know what type of card you need (CF? SD? xD?), then watch the ads in the Sunday papers and find the place that's offering the best price. Don't be surprised if Walmart or CVS has a sale on them as well, so be sure to check there.

As far as size goes, look for something a bit larger than what you think you'll need. The price for these things isn't bad so its not going to be an expensive purchase.

Whatever you do, DON'T wait until you get to WDW to buy a card (or batteries), they are very expensive there.

We also have Kodak easy share and Walmart has the one gb for about 12-13 dollars. That will hold 400-500 pictures depending on how many pixels your camera is. Have a great time at WDW.

I got three 1 GB memory cards for my EasyShare on Amazon.com for under $20. The price on these goes up and down a lot, so you might want to check up on them every now and then. But they're a great deal, since they're sold in bulk. They're not in pakaging, but they do come in individual plastic cases. At 3.0 MP my camera will hold nearly 1,000 pictures with ONE of these cards. So awesome!

Two good tips I've gotten somewhere that I've ALWAYS lived by, is

1: Put your name and cell phone number on the card in case your camera or card gets lost. Hopefully someone will find it and call you.

2:Purchase several cards with smaller amounts of storage. Why? Because heaven forbid you do lose your camera/card, you won't lose every single photo you've ever taken of your family on your trip. A camera I can buy again. The photo of my six month old DD kissing Pluto's nose (I know! Germ heaven, But it's adorable) can never be replaced. I typically take four cards and switch them out every other day.

While there is no wrong answer, I prefer 1 large card. it stays in my camera and I always know where it is. Flash is pretty safe and reliable. Where I run into trouble is when I'm swapping out multiple cards and "put one down for a sec" or put in a a pouch, or where I "think" I put it in a pouch....

If you only have one in your camera, it's easier to track the camera than a tiny card.

I did have a 4GB Microdrive (not flash, and much less reliable) semi fail while on a trip in London. The failed card was restored, and I still retrieved it's photos.

Not saying multiple cards is wrong, but there different risks for different folks.

Here's something many people don't think of checking...

If you don't know, check your manual to see if your camera has a maximum memory. Some cameras will not recognize memory cards over a certain size.

I'd never even heard of this until I was looking at a 4GB SD card on eBay. The seller said they bought it for their camera and then discovered that their camera would not recognize any card over 2GB. I checked my manual and discovered that my camera was the same way. Glad I didn't buy a 4GB card before finding that out.

I just bought a 2gig SD card at Wal-Mart for 19.99 or so. The 1G was $16 and this was wierd but the 512mb, same brand, was $17.:confused3

I never need an extra card, I always bring my laptop and d/l....

So long as nothing happens to the card or heaven forbid your laptop, you're probably ok. With them being so cheap now, I just cant see not having an extra card or 3 with you. But that's just me.
