Memories! (Disney stuff of the past)

hi guys, Empting some boxes I found some interesting stuff about Disney, first I found some drawings of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck that I draw (I was about 5 years old) I thought it could be cute to show you my passion for Disney in such a tender age . The other are maps of the Parks of 1997 and a magazine of the same year. I thought you could like it .

very cute. When we moved into our house dh found some OLD disney info in the attic, it is soo cool to look at, the prices are even more amazing, and they are SWIMMING IN THE LAKES I will try to have dh help me to scan it and get it up, it is really fun to look at.

In 1997 was the first time I went to Walt Disney Word, and the castle was in a form of a cake...remember?

yes i do!! I did not know ahead of time and I was horrified when I walked down main st!!

(no animal kingdom I think it opened 1998)

Perhaps, in the WDW sense, the only thing grosser than the '97 castle decorated was the castle being decorated in August 96. We walked into the MK to see a PINK castle with no clue as to why it was being painted PINK (this was before I knew of the disboards.com).

how can i forget the pepto cake castle.....it is burned in my memory forever!!! That was the fall i was on the college program- 1996. It was awful. I cringed everytime i went over to the MK. I have tons of old stuff from 96, including a lot of copies of "Eyes and Ears" copies- the CM newspaper. I still keep a lot of that stuff just because. I still have my original winnie the pooh stuffed animal (it was like my blankie, it came everywhere with me)---it is now 35years old and in horrible shape! lol
i also still have the mickey marching doll i am holding in my sig pic below. it's always fun to look back and see how early the obsession started!

Trivia bit - you know the Castle Cake is the reason they have that beautiful stained glass window insert that you can have placed in the window of the Wedding Pavillion.

So many brides were so upset that they had to look at the Castle decorated that way, that they had to have the stained glass insert made. My best girlfriend got married there that year and that is what they told her. (She and her hubby are both CMs.)

I found some papers from my first visit in 1989. Boy, what changes. I remember that we stayed at the Poly for an ungodly cheap price! Delta was the official airline, back then and you could get some really good packages through them.

That cake castle was awful! Whoever thought of that idea should have been shot on the spot. That sight was such a disappointment when my husband and I arrived in 1997 for our honeymoon. I had no idea it would be like that. The sight was such a shock, and I got ill just looking at it. Not only did the appalling sight scream pepto bismal pink, it made you want to reach for a bottle of it to calm your churning stomach.

The most horrific thought was that they might leave it that way. I cannot overstate my relief when the true castle returned.
