Memorializing a loved one at WDW

subbing to this thread :(

my husband passed away 2 1/2 years ago and my sister and I are taking my 3 daughters to disney in november, during the week the anniversary of his death falls on

I thought of the balloon idea as well, since we normally do that at the grave site on teh anniversary

I like the pin idea too, Tigger was his favorite :)

We went to disney on our honeymoon and were supposed to go back in 2011 for our 10 year anniversary with the kids, my sister went with me on that trip

I would love to hear more ideas on how to have this special acknowledgment at one of our favorite place.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your great ideas and sharing your own stories.

For our last trip, I made shirts that had balloons with our family's names on them. It didn't feel right to me not to include my grandpa and the baby I lost, even though it had been some time since we lost them. So...I went to the Creative DISigns forum and asked someone to make me two balloons with wings on them with their names in them so I could put them on everyone's shirts. We still feel empty without my grandpa and though we've accepted the loss of our baby, we still consider him/her as part of the family. I am including a pic so you can see how it turned out. I am sorry for your loss...

I definitely think you should wear a pin, ribbon, or shirt in her memory. Even if it's too difficult to say anything about her on the trip, you'll all know each other is thinking about her because of the reminder you wear.

I posted on the DIS in 2010 about taking my Mom on her "bucket list trip" to go whale watching in California. She died one week after our return. My DH, DD, & DS relived that entire trip last year. It was bittersweet, but it was wonderful! We went to all the same places & restaurants. We all wore our "Team Brenda" shirts on the day we went whale watching. I absolutely CHERISH the family pictures I have of us in those shirts, out in the middle of the ocean. The pictures speak a thousand words & I know Mom would be so happy to know we enjoyed that time together.
