Day 3 - Monday, May 31, 2004 (Happy Memorial Day!)
We were a little sad when we woke up this morning knowing we had to pack for the trip home later in the day. We took showers and got dressed then finished packing up, my suitcase seemed empty without Stitch.
I found the express checkout envelope on the door so I filled it out, we took one last look around and closed the door behind us. I dropped the envelope in the express checkout box on the way out to the car where we loaded up our luggage and went back to the hotel for some grub. We decided we wanted a real breakfast this morning so we at in the Islands Dining Room. Nice place but I must say those giant frogs with the long claws freaked me out just a tiny bit.
We were seated at a table that faced the outdoor seating area so we had a nice view too, well I did, Steph's back was kind of to it. LOL We both ordered the buffet, which was excellent! We both had orange juice to drink, which is brought to your table for you. Coffee was on the table when we got there but neither of us care for coffee so we didn't drink it, I did like the carafe it was in though. The buffet had a really good selection, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, omelet station, breakfast potatoes, pancakes, french toast sticks, assorted cereals, fish (I have no idea what kind), white rice, croissants, cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast and other assorted muffins and pastries, fresh watermelon, pineapple, melons, bananas, strawberries and other fruits. I think that was it but there might have been more. Everything I had was super yummy, especially the pineapple and strawberries, also the bacon was cooked just the way I like it.
After breakfast we headed down to the boat dock and took our last ride to City Walk.
We entered Universal and went to Jimmy Neutron (see MotherFletcher I did finally end up on it! LOL ) it was only about a 5 minute wait. Really cute ride! I really did like the chicken dance at the end, everyone now!
We left JN and as we were walking down the street I happened to see everyone's favorite redhead, it was Ms. Lucy herself! I stopped to get a picture with her and she actually tried to convince us that she never gets into any trouble and behaves herself. I ran for my life, I didn't want the lightning that was about to strike her to accidently hit me instead!
After that we went over to the Mummy, got our locker and headed for the express line. Longer wait than the first day and the ride broke down while we were in line. Luckily it wasn't very long. All in all I think we waited maybe 20 minutes if that. We were entertained by Scab the Scarab while we waited, nice little guy, I don't know why they have such a bad reputation, he didn't try to even so much as nibble on anyone. I was in the 2nd row on the right outside seat this time, my favorite place so far. Very comfy and I seemed to have a little more breathing room. Ride was even better the second time around and
God help me, I love that part where it goes backward and stops suddenly and you get tingles in your tummy, that's the best! LOL All the fire was a little less disturbing this time as well, it really
did have me a little paranoid the first ride. I kept thinking, what if something goes wrong, we'll all be burnt to cinders!
Anyway, I'm over it now. LOL We got off the ride, checked out our
picture and headed back for the express line. Wait time was a little less this time, took maybe 10 minutes or so. This time I was in the back outside seat. Whoa, lots of air time and a few broken ribs later... Great seat if you remember to bring your Michelin Man suit with you! Now, here is where I have to make a suggestion to anyone who has long hair. Since this didn't happen the other two times I rode and it didn't happen to Steph at all it was probably just a freak accident that could only happen to me.
From now on when I ride I will pull my hair back. Somehow my hair got tangled in the back of the head rest and let me tell you, when the ride got to the first abrupt stop I knew it all too well! There is probably a chunk of my scalp on the ride somewhere, anyway, I spent the rest of the ride trying to untangle my hair, I finally got it right as we were pulling into the unloading area. I had clumps of hair falling out the rest of the day. Oh well, it hurt but it was a minor sacrifice for a great ride. When we exited we noticed it was time for the Ghostbusters show to start so we headed over there. It was pretty crowded this time but we still managed to get up front. The hottest cowboy was in the show this time, YEE HAW!!!!
After our pulses returned to their normal state we decided to go do Earthquake, not that we really like it but it was the only thing we still hadn't done this trip, we got there and heard them telling people it was broken. No biggie, off to MIB to see if we could make up for the disgracing scores
we had on Saturday. We waited about 15 minutes or so, we both did better this time and I ended up with a 100,000 point bonus so that made me feel better for my pitiful performance earlier. We wanted to see the Horror Movie Makeup Show again before we left, the next show started in about 15 minutes so we headed over and got in the express line. It was hot as blazes in there so out came that little lime green life saver again. I air conditioned the area while we looked at the Van Helsing props they had in the room. After a few minutes they opened the handicap and express seating. We managed to get in the 2nd row so I was really happy. Today we had different hosts than the first show we had seen so that made it a little different which was cool. Stephanie was seated right next to the girl that "volunteered" for the show, she later confessed she was terrified that they were going to pick her and breathed a sigh of relief when they picked the other girl instead. I was able to get some good pictures since we were so close to the stage. This show is just too funny, I really think
I could see it 100 times and not get tired of it. After the show I wanted another Lemon Slush, how handy that there is a stand right across the street! So we got a couple and sat in the outside area at Cafe' LaBamba. There was a couple there who started asking us questions about the rides and the park and where different attractions were so we chatted with them for a few minutes before they left. The Mystery Machine went by so I snapped a picture of that and thought about how hot poor Scooby must be. We decided it was time for lunch so we headed out of the park, lemon slushes in hand and made our way to City Walk. We couldn't decide if we wanted to eat at Latin Quarter or
Margaritaville but we ended up at Margaritaville. We didn't have any wait and our table had a great view of the video screen...sail...thingy! LOL We ordered the Nachos for an appetizer, that thing is HUGE! After we ate most of those we didn't even want to look at our lunch when it came. Stephanie had ordered the mushroom swiss cheeseburger and salad and I ordered the french dip sandwich with fries. I ate some of my fries and about a quarter of my sandwich and I was stuffed. Steph at about half of
her burger and she was stuffed so we got to go containers and paid the bill. *Sigh* time to go home. Since the path to the hotel was right there we walked it back to the parking lot and began our journey home. We saw a dead alligator on the side of I-75. This is their mating season and they are moving around looking for a partner so they venture places they wouldn't normally go. I'm not especially fond of alligators but it's sad to see any creature dead on the side of the rode.
I dropped Stephanie off at her house, got a refill on water for the ride home and headed back to the interstate. I pulled into my driveway about 25 minutes later where my baby (dog) greeted me with much excitement! She missed her mommy.
So that's it, the end of a wonderful weekend. Thanks for reading my reports, I do hope you all enjoyed them. I had fun writing them and remembering all the fun I had. I can't wait to do it again!
