We have booked our first trip to Disneyland for the last week of May. Our first day at the parks will be Memorial Day and we are trying to decide which park to visit first. I realize they will both be packed. Which would you go to?

Been there, done this! FYI parking was so crazy that Monday I still remember it 5 years later so give yourself extra time if driving to the parks. Fyi, this Memorial Day could be extra packed as it is the rumored kickoff to 60th anniversary events. I say go to DCA. On heavy crowd days DCA tends to be less crowded than DL.

It depends on...

1. Are you staying at a Disney hotel or not

2. Are you the type that likes to get to the parks at park opening all or most days or are you more inclined to show up after park opening.

3. How many days you are planning to visit

4. Do you have park hoppers

1. Are you staying at a Disney hotel or not

Yes, we are staying at Paradise Pier

2. Are you the type that likes to get to the parks at park opening all or most days or are you more inclined to show up after park opening.

Yes! We want to be there as soon as they open

3. How many days you are planning to visit

We will spend 4 days in the parks

4. Do you have park hoppers

Yes!

We'll be there that week too! I'll be the one chasing three little girls in three different directions, probably covered in glitter from their constantly shedding princess dresses :rotfl2:

We weren't originally planning on going to the parks that day since our original plan was to fly in the evening of the 25th and then spend the 26th-29th at the parks. However, we ended up finding an awesome airfare deal to fly in early morning on the 25th instead and recently booked that.

So now we're considering doing the parks on the 25th in the afternoon since we'll have to wait to check into our hotel for a bit and it isn't a ton of extra $$ to add on an extra park day. I'm thinking we'd mostly do Disneyland that day. We're hoping to keep the trip a complete surprise from our kids until we get there and I've always just envisioned taking them to DL first and seeing the castle for the first time.

OK, you will have EMH privileges every day and since you like to arrive at park opening, logic says to start each day at the EMH park. You can parkhop as you see fit.

That sounds like a great plan, thanks for the advice!

What a wonderful surprise! You are right, seeing the castle first will be magical!

Your first impression should be of Disneyland itself but be warned that it will be very busy on Memorial day.

We'll also be at Disneyland Monday 25th -Wednesday 27th May, just wondering if the crowds will drop dramatically after the Monday public holiday?

Do we know yet if DL will be doing the 24hr event for Memorial Day?
Will possibly be arriving on Memorial Day and trying to plan for the week.

thanks!

I would like to know this also. We get there on Sunday but were going to go to the parks Tuesday- Saturday but we might change if they have the 24 hour event (I haven't seen it mentioned yet but I dont know when they usually announce it). I sure wish they still had 6 day tickets!
