Please join me in saying a few kind words to those who have or are serving to protect our lives and freedom... I am a grandchild of a POW who escaped with help and also the child of a retired military.... I am tankful everyday that these men and women have sacrificed their lives to keep me and my family safe...

My cousins son is joining the Marines next week after he graduates. He always has idolized our Uncle Joe, who was a WWII highly decorated Marine. Very proud of all the men and women who serve our country!

I am eternally grateful to those who serve. We took the kids to Punchbowl yesterday, to see part of the Vietnam ceremony and to see all the leis on the graves. I think it's important our children understand that Memorial Day isn't the "opening to summer" but rather a day to reflect on those we've lost who have served.

I'm a spouse to an active duty sailor and daughter of a Vietnam Vet. (plus uncles who have served,etc)

I'm thankful for all the men and women who have given up civilian lives to serve our country, both here in the U.S. and overseas.

I'm also thankful to all the parents out there who have kissed their kids goodbye and sent them to their assignments. My neighbor has sent not just one, but THREE Marines to Afghanistan. Thank you Mike and Vicki.
