This is my first post but I've been reading other posts for a while. I've learned so much and am already addicted to checking for new posts. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the info! :wave2: My DF and I will be graduating in May 2008 and wanted to plan our wedding for Memorial Day weekend that year at WDW. We are going down in December this year to check things out. :woohoo: I heard that gay/lesbian week is that time in may and was worried that it will be way too crowded. Has anyone been to WDW around Memorial Day? Are we going to be waiting for rides for 2 hours or 30 minutes? Thanks for your input

ive heard that memorial day weekend and gary/lesbian days are very busy.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I'm not sure but the star wars weekends may overlap in there too. As for the gay/lesbian days, it does get very crowded although from what my brother tells me (he's gone for a few years now) the week is usually planned out for specific days in specific parks and I believe it is the first week of june.

I just got back from Disney World and we went MEmorial Day weekend. It was not crowded at all! We didn't have to wait in line one time. The Gay and Lesbian weekend is the weekend after memorial day so if you were planning on staying a week that might interfere. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice... I guess we'll just have to take the chance that it won't be too crowded. I just figured with school still in session it wouldn't be too bad, and since it's a three day weekend people wouldn't have to take an extra day off of work.

yea - I had the same question.. I am getting married memorial day weekend of 2007 - but G/L day is the first week in June so no worries :)

JDr2b777- I can't wait for your input next year then so I can tell my guests what to expect :goodvibes Good to hear I'm not the only crazy person planning a wedding on a Memorial Day Weekend

We were the week before. The parks were busy, but not the major crush like in July/August. It is HOT! Just keep that part in mind to relay to your guest. We did find out that MGM was really really busy, but that was b/c it was the opening of Star Wars weekends. Depending on what you want to do, a location choice you may want to consider is Epcot. The reason I suggest this is that it is Flower and Garden Festival. If you are a custom wedding you can get away with not having that much in the way of decorations.

I think some states are done with school in May, so they probably would not still be in session. Just FYI. kamilaraine said Memorial Day wasn't busy at all! Good luck.

Hello
I have been there during Memorial Day Weekend and it is SUPER BUSY. MY DF and I will NEVER do it again... We are planning to get married in 2008 and we grad. this year from College... We are on the same boat as you and your DF... We decided to have our wedding in Nov 2008... The weather is cool and crisp... Becareful also in the Summer it rains alot.... esp. the afternoon. Good luck KIT :surfweb:

I just had my wedding over Memorial Day weekend on that Saturday. It was great, we kept expecting everything to be super crowded, it was on that Saturday. But then that Monday was pretty good...I think a lot of people left that day. Think this over as well...most businesses are not going to have conventions on a holiday weekend, especially Memorial Day, that means that the chance of one of your locations being bumped for a convention are pretty low if non-existant. Our wedding weekend was fantastic!!
