This morning is our character breakfast at 1900 Park Faire. Our PS is not until 10am, so we get to sleep in a little and relax. DH rolls out of bed and announces that he is sick. He's congested, achy, etc. basically flu-like symptoms. We are scheduled for a full day at MGM, so I'm not sure how this is going to work.

Shortly before 10 we head over to the restaurant. It's another beautiful day (we had perfect weather). Following a short wait, we are seated. This is our first time at this character breakfast. I saw Pooh, Eeyore, Alice, Mary Poppins, and Piglet. The food was very good, and the character interaction was awesome. We would definitely do this breakfast again. We didn't stay long enough to experience all of the characters, but Eeyore was especially fun. DS and I each received hugs and kisses, and Eeyore fed DS some breakfast...very cute! I'm keeping my eye on DH, so far so good.

It's off to MGM for a big day! We don't arrive until about 11, so the crowds have already formed. We make a quick trip over to RnR to pick up a fastpass. The fastpass system worked really well at MGM during our visit. Most of the return times were about an hour. We had very little luck at MK with fastpass the day before, so this was a pleasant surprise. We were able to use fastpass twice for RnR, once for Mermaid, and once for WWTBAM.
We also had little to moderate waits in stand-by for The Movie Ride, Star Tours, and The Muppets. DS remains traumatized by ToT so we skipped it. I don't think he's ever going to get over it! We were not able to see Hunchback or Indiana Jones due to scheduling conflicts. As a number of people have pointed out, the shows seem to be scheduled in the 12-4 time period. It does make it difficult to see them all.

We did see the afternoon parade which we loved (except for the late arrivals who have no sense of personal space). MGM is a great park to see the characters. DS (10) is no longer into the autograph book and picture thing, but he still enjoys noticing the more current characters hanging around. We did find the Sorcerer Mickey photo op near WWTBAM. There was no wait, and we did purchase a nice photo.

We stopped around 2pm and took a breather. DH needed an ice cream fix, so we had dessert and then a little lunch (fish and chips, very good). Dinner was at the Hollywood Brown Derby. This was our second time at that restaurant. I have to admit, we liked it much better the first time. It wasn't bad, just not very good. I think that next time, we'll try Mama Melrose's or eat counter-service (so many good choices).

We made our way over to Fantasmic at around 8:30. We have visited WDW during the summer a number of times. I suppose that we have always been fortunate to be there when there are two showings of Fantasmic. There have always been many seats available, even after the show started (not front and center, but seats none the less). I would say that by 8:40, Fantasmic was SRO. I think that the decision to cancel the second showings during our visit was a poor one. I've never felt the need to arrive early for this show in the past, but it may have become a necessity. The show, as always was great! Our row cleared out a few minutes before the ending, so we followed suit. We made it out before the stampede!

At the GF, we turned on the t.v. only to discover that nearly everyone in Florida had flocked to WDW! Apparently, some last minute deals were offered, and Orlando was taken by surprise.
We brace ourselves for tomorrow, and decide to make it a short day. DH is looking a little worse for the wear. He is getting sicker by the minute, so we get him to bed and settle in for the night.

In summary, MGM was much more manageable than MK. I would say that the crowds were similar to what we have experienced in July. The hours were shorter, which meant that we skipped some attractions, which was disappointing. Fastpass worked really well here! I need to remember for next time, that the counter-service eateries are good choices here. We have tried most of the sit-down restaurants, and have found them to be lacking on several occasions. No need to spend the extra time and money if it's not going to be worth it!

Tomorrow is an early day at MK. We're gonna try to hit the biggies!!!

Hope your husband felt better by morning - nothing worse than being sick while on vacation at WDW - a good day for all - thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing and I hope DH will get to feelig better soon. Have loads of fun tomorrow.

I feel the same way about sit down dinners - not quite worth the money or the time. hope your DH gets better, my dh got really sick on our last trip and spent two days in bed!

Not surprised to hear about the FL Residents flocking to Orlando. It is a big weekend for qucik trips! Most people I know don't stay onsite, nor do they make reservations. They just find a place when the get there!
