Memorial Day Crowds?

Hey, all - I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I'm sure someone can help! :surfweb:

Me (College graduate this May!) and my younger sister (16yo high schooler and Disney lover as well) are starting to think about a trip to the World the week before Memorial Day! I didn't think this would be financially feasible, but I started crunching some numbers and it looks like a possibility, so let the planning commence... :woohoo:

I was wondering, for those of you going in May, or who have been in May before, what kind of crowds will we be up against? 5/25-5/31. We have been Spring Break before and it was AWFUL - if crowds will be that bad we probably won't go!

Any other tips, comments, etc, for 2 young, fabulous women headed down for a week are gladly welcome! :goodvibes

We were there last Mem Day weekend and a few days before. The days before were great; the weekend was okay - not horrible, but we tend to be early risers and get there before the crowds. I certainly wouldn't avoid it if I had a chance to go again that weekend.

We go every year for Memorial Day weekend and the week after. I think the crowds are moderate, not horrible and it slows down some the Tues, Wed and Thurs after Memorial Day. A lot of schools are still in session, especially in the northern states, so many families have not yet begun their summer vacations. Beginning next year (2008), even FL public schools will still be in session as they are going to a later start in August and not getting out until June. This is good news to us that still get out of school prior to Memorial Day and head straight to WDW as soon as the last bell rings! We'll be there again this year May 25th - June 3rd.

We were there last Memorial Day. The days before the weekend weren't bad at all. In fact one afternoon, around 3, we went to the MK(our first day) and were able to ride BTMR without more than a 15 minute wait. We also did SM, but used FP for that. The weekend was much more crowded, but not unmanagable. If you aren't an early riser though, you'll hit the crowds and have long wait times. We always get there before opening and do most everything before lunch, without any waiting. Getting their early is the key. :)

We went last year Mem. day weekend, and the Thursday before hand was not too bad, but it was crowded, but still doable during the weekend. Although, we found that when we arrived early to the parks we could do what we wanted for about the 1st hour or so without long lines, so we tried to hit our favs then and then just picked a few more rides and stood on the lines. The buses were frequent, didn't wait for more than 10 mins for one, but they were usually packed, and had standing room much of the time. The only place that really seemed mobbed was when we were transfering busess at Downtown Disney I guess the 2nd bus stop there PI?? was bad, most poor folks who were waiting didn't even get on our bus b/c there was no more room. I think a previous poster made a good point, that most northern schools aren't off yet for summer break, so i would bet that helps. We are going again this July :yay: : and I am wondering which will be more crowded mem day or july? I guess we will see...

Everyone is right in saying that it isn't TOO busy...little bit more crowded then a normal May weekend...we were there this past year and it was HOT that is about all that I can remember...it was unseasonably warm and it sucked because of that.

Someone asked if Memorial Day or July will be busier...July will be busier BY FAR!!
