I am planning a trip to Disney next May and will be staying at Dixielandings.
Should I buy a membership to disney world? Which one? And will it save me money in planning my trip? What is the best avenue to getting the best price? Thanks for the help.

Membership in the Disney Vacation Club is reportedly economical if you plan to vacation at Disney at least once every two years, but there are HUGE startup costs, and Port Orleans (which has merged with the former Dixie Landings) is not a Vacation Club hotel, which means you get less value for your points.
The Disney vacation Club is a timeshare program, by the way, not a reward program.

My advice to you is to read, read, read these boards, particularly the resort board and budget board. Also, check out www.mousesavers.com There are lots of things you can consider, such as Annual pass, disney club membership, etc but it all depends on how long you are staying, etc.

For more info on DVC and how rewarding (love that word) it is, be sure to read the message boards for DVC members here. Personally speaking we have found that if it weren't for us being DVC members we couldn't afford to go to Disney every year, and stay where we're staying (that's part of the beauty of it). Now I'm doing reward programs to try to help pay for the other costs ~ LOL
