member services question

I am new to DVC and have read here that member services can book a cash room, sometimes at a discount for members. My question is is it only for a dvc room or can it be at a resort hotel. I am staying in Nov @ BLT and might come 1 day early. We are thinking of either staying one day on cash @ BLT or staying at poly on cash. Would I be able to book either one through member services?

So, I could book a one night stay at the Poly? and with a discount? That would be great. My youngest doesn't remember our stay there. He was only 3 at the time and really wants to stay there(volcano pool)
We always book a trip and then try to rationalize why we "need" to come a day or two earlier. Airline prices, park tickets, etc. We can always think of a reason why it is better to add a day or two to the original vaction.
this will be our first trip to BLT, so adding a cash day there would be good also.

i know the DVC member discount is only available for the DVC resorts (and only sometimes.)

i didn't think you could book non-DVC resorts for cash by calling MS but i could be mistaken...

MS can NOT book non-DVC WDW resorts for cash. If you want to book the Poly on cash, call DRC/CRO/WDWTC.

MS can book selected non-DVC WDW resorts for points, though.

Discounted cash reservations (25% off rack) are sometimes available for DVC resorts only through MS.
