Just checking. Tomorrow is 7 months and I want to switch the first 3 days of our stay to BLT. We will be in the car going to a wedding that starts at 10, so I'm hoping it doesn't open at 10....or I'll be late to the wedding, LOL.

Thanks! I really want to try BLT but it's spring break so I'm nervous. I am aiming for a 1 BR lake view.
It's a wedding 3 hours away and we couldn't leave tonight because my DD is a cheerleader. Wedding and reception are at a park. Weather looks iffy. But if I get BLT I won't care.

I got BLT!! I called right at 9AM and now we have BLT 1 BR lake view for our first three nights of our trip! . I couldn't update earlier because although our hotel had free wi-fi, our Ipad wouldn't connect to it. My daughter's laptop would, but she was writing a paper, and my son's Ipod worked with it, but I just decided to update when we got home.
The wedding was nice. It was in a shelterhouse and the rain stayed north so we were fine. It was a very small wedding but it was nicely done. Afterwards we were going to go on a boat with the groom's brother's family but Lake Michigan was choppy so they came to our hotel so the kids could all swim.
Now we have to decide what to do on Tuesday...our intent is to try to get the last 4 nights at AKL. I can't call at 9 because I'm teaching. I have to figure out whether to let DH handle it or call at 10:02, which is my lunch period. Since check-in for that portion would be Good Friday, I'm guessing I should let DH do it. I have settled on Kidani (the 4 of us in a regular hotel for one night convinced me the two bathrooms were a good deal), but now I'm debating standard vs. savanna view. Standard view, with the BLT days, would make it the same points as our SSR stay would have been.

Yay! Congrats on getting BLT. I love BLT; but I'm biased as it is our home resort. I'm glad the wedding was nice. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't trust my DH to call for the second part of your reservation (I take care of all the DVC stuff). Since AKV is so big, I really think you'll be fine calling at 10:02. We stayed in a 1 BR standard view at Jambo this past June, and we actually had a savanna view (our room had been savanna view but was reclassified to standard as it doesn't look at an actual savanna, but rather a block of land in between them. We still saw plenty of animals!) So we got a great view with standard view points. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I also think you'll be OK waiting until 10:00 to call for AKV - but I could be wrong. (I also wouldn't be comfortable letting my DH make the call!! What does this say about our confidence in our DH's?!) Do you already have a few nights booked at SSR just in case? FWIW I was able to book a std. studio at Kidani last year at 6 1/2 months out - but we were going the weekend before & leaving on the Thurs. before Good Friday. A couple days ago I was able to get a LV studio for 6 nights next spring break and was excited to get it. Std. was all gone off course. We're pulling the same get in & get out early thing that we did in 2010. It was busy but got busier by the day so we were glad to be leaving when we did.

I also think you can wait a bit to call. My DH has done great things for me DVC wise, in the past, he's secured a BC at VB and concierge at AKV, when the times to call found me in a classroom. Don't sell your DH short!

Congratulations on getting BLT! Out of all BLT views, LV is the easiest to get. Like everybody said, AKV probably would not be a problem, especially if you are good with Savanna view.

I wanted THV for March. I called right at 7 months, right at 9am EDT. There was a room. The member services person looked at other details in my account before booking it. Then the room was gone. I had to wait list. Fortunately, the wait list came through in about 10 days. So I am now set for my Spring Break trip in THV.

Comparing to this time in 2010 trying to book March of 2011, it seems harder this year (harder now to 2012 than last year to get 2011).

She checked both standard and savanna and said that both were available, so she canceled my 4 nights at SSR before she booked it. I got Kidani and on a higher floor. She said standard and savanna were also available at Jambo.
So I am using 318 points total, during the most expensive (points wise) season of the year of course, for 3 nights at BLT Lake view and 4 nights standard at Kidani, 1BR. I would have used the same points at SSR, but now I get to experience TWO new resorts!
I also was able to book our airfare going down through Southwest...but they are only open through April 9 and we come home April 10, so I'll have to keep my eyes open for a return fare. Got going down for $110 per person total!

I thought you'd be OK waiting until 10:00. Good job. We've booked 6 nights at BLT for spring break and I just bought our air on Friday night. I WAS going to wait for SW to release yesterday but then I got a fare alert from airfarewatchdog.com for a good deal on Jet Blue so I went ahead & booked it. FWIW SW says their next release date for beyond April 9th will be on Oct. 3. Jet Blue's schedule already runs thru April 30.

I wish Jet Blue was an option but I usually fly out of Detroit--Toledo is always way more expensive. I didn't even KNOW Southwest was opening--I checked airtran and was suprised to see they had one way open, and checked SW and Voila! I'll keep my eyes open. I know the flights returning on April 9 are NOT a bargain--$225 is the cheapest! --but that is the day after Easter, and I'm hoping the April 10 flights are a lot less!
