Member Services fouls up! No harm-this time, thankfully!

Called on Monday to add to my day by day for BWV std view 1BR-- reservation for 11 months from now---Aug 5, 6 7..to go with Aug 1-4 made last week...fine--it was done...called today to add Aug 8 and 9---and MS says- all they have are Aug 1-4..no record of my call Monday for 5-6-7--and since it is all one linked reservation--I have only the original confirmation number from the first few days which proves nothing...luckily there was still plenty of inventory--but what if this was a more difficult time-- like Xmas? What if my middle dates were never entered because MS messed up? I share this only as a warning to be very careful with day by day reservations....My only advice is to write down the name of whomever you talk to in these circumstances and the time of the call--not sure it will really help, but the more info that you have- the more likely you will have a chance at a satisfactory solution, I would think. Has this ever happened to anyone else???

Forgive me in advance, but what do you gain by making reservations day-to-day? I've seen this mentioned a few times and wonder why not just book for the whole trip in one call?

The OP wanted to be assured of the Std View room at the BWV, since they take less points than preferred. Although, I would think for his timeframe, it was probably not necessary.

Day to Day ressies can be helpful during extremely heavy travel periods, like Christmas/New Years, especially at the smaller DVC resorts.

I asked if it was necessary the first day - and MS said it was better to be safe than sorry with the standard views at the BWV...in the end it really was not necessary...but again if it had been one of those times when day by day is prudent and necessary--I just wanted people to be aware of this potential mess.

I usually write down all ressie numbers plus the MS castmember's name for each. I always have them linked, but when I call the next day, I repeat all the previous ones, so the MS castmember will catch a mistake. Glad it worked out.

The only time we use day by day is for NYE and anytime we want a GV.

Curious about why you get more than one res number. When I did day by day ressies I just told MS that is what I was doing and they put something in the computer about not closing the ressie until all days were added. I ended up being wait listed for NYE at OKW for GV which was the last day of the ressie and they just held it until it came through in May and then mailed the confirmation out. Much easier than keeping track of many numbers.
