Member perks - room discounts?

Sometimes it is possible to get a member discount for Fri and Sat at DVC resorts only. I am staying at SSR in Feb, and am using points for Mon-Thurs, paying cash for Fri and Sat, then points for Sun to Thurs again. The member discount is 25% off rack rate for the room. As of yet, the dates I need are not discounted, I just keep calling MS to see if they are available. The discount is only for DVC resorts booked through member services with cash. There is no discount for the other resorts or through CRO.

You can get a member discount of 25% off the rack rate for DVC properties (the member must stay in this room, so you can't get it for others) if it is available. If there is a possibility that the room won't be sold out on points, then MS will make a cash discount (any night of the week, not just Fri and Sat).

If you are staying in the same type of room on points, they will usually link the reservation and you might not have to check out and check back in.

I have one day cash at OKW on Friday, 6/22/07. The pretax rate they quoted me was $457.50 which is about 22.5% less than the $590 rack rate. I've never made a cash ressie linked to one using points but we really wanted the extra day. Renting points at about $10 each would have cost me $730 so this was a good option for me.

Actually that has changed. I confirmed it with MS several times. The 25% discount is available for friends and family even if the DVC member is not present.
