Just curious if anybody received the postcard about the member clubhouse as well as looked it up on the internet.

I got it. To be honest, I never really looked at the card because I thought it was about the member website.

What I don't like is that there's a link that you can click on that brings you to the member site without entering the password.

For this reason, please do not share the web address for the Member Clubhouse website on the board.

Thanks!!!

We recieved ours yesterday, but I never had a chance to look it up on the internet. Is this not the just the Vacation Club home website?

Got mine too! I have it beside my comp. and was going to take the time to go to that site next. I am anxious to see what all it is about.

It is mostly fluff and I agree with Reg on this one. Don't post the address because it does allow others into the member website.

This is probably a dumb question, but what is in the member site that is such a secret? I have been to it many times, and still cannot figure out the reason why it is password protected

Can someone enlighten me? :D

Muushka,
I agree with you about the member website, not really all that much to it, but I am in hopes that someday there will be something worthwhile, so maybe that's why they chose to have it password protected. I'm hoping someday we might be able to check points balances, and make reservations online(I know, I Know , I ask for way toooo much!!!).

I mean i dont want to be a wise guy...but just exactly what state secrets will be let out to the public if a "non-member' lays their eyes on the member web site. I mean I am all for having a secret handshake and everything, but its not like where protecting the location of the Arc Of The Covenant.......(oh for the sensitive among us...I am only kidding):jester: :jester: :jester:

I received the card but didn't bother looking at the website. To date, I CERTAINLY haven't been impressed with Disney's use of the Internet to assist DVC members. Until we can obtain computerized reservations, I see little utility in the site. With all of the geopolitical concerns in the world, I'm not worried about "unauthorized" access to the "clubhouse". If anyone would like to PM me, I'll be happy to give you the double-secret password:D :D ........

I have to agree that the member site is not overly wonderful or contains any top secret specail members only deals (wish we did have great deals that should be kept to ouselves :teeth: )

Anyways, when the id and password are printed on the postcard so that anyone who looks at the postcard can see them it is not overly secure anyways.

And if they ever do implmenet anything useful like checking points balances or making ressies THEN THEY BETTER ADD REAL SECURITY to the site, with each member setting up thier own passwords at least, or even better setting up own login and password.

Mike

Its pretty obvious that if they ever make it possible to check point balances or other account information, or even do banking/borrowing transactions (I'm not sure that the reservations system can be adequately web enabled without spending more money than I'd want my dues going for), they would need secure individual authentication and that the dvc member name and password we all share would be a thing of the past.

I tried using the address on the card, but could not get into the site with it. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not the one who made the member site password protected, DVC did that and it's been our policy to respect that decision.

I've never seen anything earth shattering on the member site either, but you never know what the future holds and I wouldn't want non-members knowing how to access the site.

We also ask that the member phone number not be posted. While a non-member wouldn't get very far, the cost of the call would still come out of our dues, no matter how brief it might be.

:D :D
