Member Clubhouse-gated beach access at VB?

Just received the Member Clubhouse.

It said that a gate has been installed at VB for beach access from the Boardwalk.

Has anyone seen this? It says that it is activated by your room key.

Just curious.

It was there over Easter. You need your key to go to and from the beach. There is another gate to get into the pool area (thats probably always been there). The one from the pool area has a button you can push to get out - the one to the beach does not. When we were there they were really doing a good job tracking down 'pool crashers'.

we were there easter and the gate worked great except we know how kind dvc members are and most the time people were holding the gates open for people, it was nice if your arms were full with pool stuff. i would have mentioned it , but i thought it would had been old news on the dis....... until i read my members club, sorry.

The gate to the beach must be to restrict access to the resort from the beach. Anyone who wants to use the beach near the resort certainly can - there is a public beach (with lifeguards, restrooms and a picnic shelter) to the immediate north of the VB resort. It is just a short walk along the beach to the stairs leading up to VB resort.

I'm glad to hear that the CMs are aggressively tracking down "pool crashers." Wish that the other on site DVC resorts (besides BC/YC/BCV) would do the same for their pools. IMHO, there are a lot of crashers at Luna Park.

we were at the poly over easter and a cm came around and asked everyone for there room id, the people next to us were very rude throwing their beach bags around looking for hteir romm key and giving the cm dirty looks and being snippy, when she came to us next we were very nice and telling her what a great idea, but told her we didnt have a room key , we were on the first floor walked out our sliding door all the time and we just didnt bring our keys , purse, wallets, just the cooler,lol.lol
then she seen we all were wearing boat rental bands and asked if we just rented boats and we said just about an hour ago and gave her our room #, the cm was very pleasant and went on to the next person.
