I closed on a resale 2/2. Everything is in my account-I got my member # through MS but have yet to get my membership cards.

Does anyone know how long it will take to get them? Should I call member services to request them?

Thank you!

If you are heading to WDW and don't have your cards, you can stop by the DVC offices at SSR and they will print you some on the spot.

Thank you everyone.. Just wanted to make sure. Not heading down until August so no rush but wasn't sure if I was supposed to initiate something.

I'm waiting for mine as well. We have a business/pleasure trip at the beginning of March so we are hoping it comes in before then.

The cards are printed in batches. Sometimes it's a short wait, sometimes it can take several weeks.

We've been going down for about five years now and never bring the cards. Noone has ever asked to see them either.

You don't have to wait for your card to log in to the member website. If you call member services, they will give you your member number and pin.

Thank you. I have already done that. Was just wondering when the cards were coming. Will they send the little Portable Perks book with the cards or do I have to call to get one of those? If so, who do I call to get one.

You only get the portable perks when you check in to a resort. Those are not mailed out.

Do you do pool-hopping, or the (few) restaurants discounts? Or I guess the question is, when would one likely show the DVC member card (or are you only able to pool hop, use discounts with the KTTW card -- does it say DVC member?).

We have never gotten member cards on our resale purchase, only on our original purchase.

Your KTTW card says has your DVC member number on it. We have always just used that for member perk discounts. We have pool hopped several time but we've never been asked to prove we are members. I think either card would be fine.

Had the same question...I just closed on a resale and received my 2008-2009 vacation planning book from DVC. I kind of thought my member card would be in there but it wasn't. I guess it might come separately?

Also, if you order DVC-discounted APs on the member website, will they ask to see your member card when you go to pick them up?

We have never been asked for the member card. If you made a resservation on points then your KTTW card says DVC member on it and that is what gets you the discounts around the place. The room key has an ID number but it is not the member number. (I just checked my old card)

For pool hopping just keep your room key with you. That proves you are a hotel guest and not a 'townie'. SAB had lifeguards at the entrance checking room keys because no one can pool hop there.

I have found it a real good idea to put charging on my KTTW card because that way I'll always get the discount if there is one. In the past I have forgotten to show the card and missed out on a discount.

The only time I can see when you might need the member card is if you paid for a room with cash but want dining discounts.

Yes they will, along with a photo ID for each pass proving that each person resides in your household.

Only time we were ever asked for our cards was when we purchased our AP's at Guest Service's in DHS for our DVC discount. AND we had forgotten them at Boardwalk, CM looked us up and applied the discount for us.pirate:

Yes, it does come separately. I was wondering the same thing when I got the 2008-2009 planner. Mine just came in yesterday, about ten days after the planner came in.
