Melting Pot Reviews?

Any reviews of the Melting Pot? I looked on the website and it looks good, but there is no kids menu listed? Racheal Ray had it on one of her shows and she joined a family but not sure it looks like a family restaurant.

I did the Melting Pot in Philly. I am sure it is the same menu. It was really good,and a lot of fun but I can say I would not take my children there. Ages 10-7-6. I think it is more an adult based place. The table center are really hot and it is just the more of an adult atmosphere.

We've used the Melting Pot on Sand Lake Road many times, but as an earlier post has said its not really a child friendly restaurant.

What we have done in the past is to just have an entree at a restaurant our kids like and then just book the dessert at the melting pot and then take the kids as well. As you can imagine the kids really enjoy the chocolate.

Our kids are 9 & 8, but our youngest was 7 when she first went, and had no problems with the heating element on the table.

We have one close by in Pensacola. I don't think it's a Children's place at all. For one thing, you are cooking every bite one at a time and the "pot" is extremely hot. It's a fantastic place for a date when you just want to talk and talk. But it is slow, slow, slow. Atmosphere is more like couples than family.

Oh thanks for the info, I just went and checked out the food network site and you are so right, I just remembered a fondue restaurant in Orlando and when I was looking I saw this so I figured it was the one, is the Colorado Fondue more family friendly? We don't have anything of the sorts up our way so not familiar with it.......

I have eaten at the one in Birmingham, AL. It is true that it is slow, slow, slow. We had a party of three and ordered the Big Night Out. We ended up spending $160 for the three of us.

I was able to view the menu by Googling Melting Pot & going directly to the Birmingham location. I cannot post a link, as my post count is not high enough.

We have eaten out our local Melting Pot several times. We consider it a "special occasion" restaurant. I agree with previous posters, I wouldn't take my 6 yr old there for dinner, but we did take our older DD for her 16th birthday and she really enjoyed it. Dinner for two usually runs us $100 and that is without beverages. As GinaBean said, it is a long dinner experience.

We have one here in SC and I love it! I have taken the kids a couple of times, but prefer to go with dh for a special occasion. Make sure to get cookies and cream chocolate for dessert!

Dissenting opinion - I thought it was mediocre considering the price. And since oil is one of the fondues you can get for your meat course, your clothes/hair will end up smelling like fried food if even ONE table in the palce chooses the oil.

We've eaten at Colorado Fondue in Casselberry, the one where Rachel Ray joined a family for dessert. Loved it. Prices were very reasonable a few years ago. We took DD when she was 7 or 8 and had a great time. Sorry, I can't compare them, I've never been to the Melting Pot.
