Melissa & Aaron's @home Disney wedding 9/2/11...Teaser

Hooray! The Tiana dress is my favorite one they made! Also, love the invites and RSVP's. So clever and witty. I'd almost rethink if I were to check "no" :lmao::rotfl:

The dress is beautiful, the Vineyard looks amazing, those invites are the coolest ones i have ever seen, and the RSVP omg I was laughing so hard almost had an asthma attack lol :rotfl2: can't wait to read more :thumbsup2

I'm so glad it made you laugh! That is the point... a wedding is a happy, exciting event and I want it to come off as fun :)

Your dress is amazing! The Vineyards look amazing too. Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

Thanks! Trust me... there is lots more to come... I'm just trying so hard not to say it all at once! Thanks for following along! I'm looking forward to your opinions on my table centerpieces. :)

I loooove the Tiana dress! It looks SO good on every bride I've seen it on! And the shoes?! Love them!

But you NEED those mickey mouse slippers. Do you have any? My fiance and I bought them on our first trip to Disney and still have them. (I wear them when I'm in my emo-I-miss-Disney moods) They're SO comfy and silly!

I get in those moods too! You may have convinced me to buy them w/o my discount :)

Yeah, haha it would be tough. It's too bad we're not a little bit closer, or at least have a day in between :goodvibes Oh well! I'm sure we can still get ideas from each other. :)

Wow, I can't believe you went to 29 venues! I only visited one on Long Island, and a few in Pennsylvania (where my fiance is from). I thought we'd definitely end up in PA, since Long Island prices can be crazy, but the caterer is a friend of my dad's and we got a great deal, and I'm happy I'll be able to have a Long Island wedding.

And yay! :woohoo: for the Tiana dress! I bought my dress before that line came out. I would've loved to try on both Tiana and Belle though.

I kept comparing each venue to Disney and, of course, nothing came close. And I can't wait to share ideas!

Hiya! I'm subbing into your PJ :goodvibes

Your story is wonderfulThe Vineyard looks stunning, very beautiful.
I adore your invites and response cards are brilliant. Great choice on the dress... seriously! I love love love that dress and the shoes!

anyways, looking forward to hearing more of your wonderful plans. You get married a month before I do & you have so much done already. Makes me think I should get my backside into gear :lmao:

Thank you so much :) What have I done that you haven't? lol Dress and invites? :)

This made me laugh so hard! Emo-I-Miss-Disney moods... :rotfl2:

Anywho, I love the dress and those shoes!! It will look gorgeous!!
And I agree, those Disney shoes are a must!!!

Thanks :)

I tried on Tiana and I loved it too! It's a great dress!!! :goodvibes

Isn't it beautiful :)

CAKE

Aaron and I don't get to spend much time together in person since we live in different countries, but when we are together, we love watching shows like "Amazing Wedding Cakes" or "Cake Boss" so we knew off the bat that we wanted an awesome cake that we would spend way more than necessary on... lol

We went to City Cakes in NYC and Chef Benny was AMAZING! I'm super picky about the cake being perfectly straight and stuff and lemme tell you, this guys stuff is phenomenal! (plus he's a total cutie who loves Disney too :) )

Anyway, Aaron and I had a meeting with him in Feb to discuss the cake and told him we wanted it to reflect the Disney parks. I worked in Animal Kingdom, Aaron worked in Epcot, and our first date was in the other two parks so it was perfect...

So this is what he came up with:
Disney_Parks_Wedding_Cake.jpg

I LOVE it (except I've always wanted a 4 tier cake so we may change that later).

There will be two little tweaks to this sketch...
1. The Hollywood Studios hat will be changed (ears and swirls added)
2. The EPCOT hand and words will be removed... for some reason Aaron (DF) hates that..

The flavors will be pineapple cake, then raspberry buttercream and then amaretto cake. It's so moist and yummy!

So whadda ya think? :)

Also, we need suggestions...

1. I had wanted some rides incorporated so he said he would do Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror on the back, but we aren't sure what to do... DF says tombstones are morbid so how else would we represent the Haunted Mansion?

2. The fondant will be either light blue to be like daytime or dark blue to represent night time. I like light blue since the lights will be dimmed at the hall and I'm hoping the light blue will kinda stick out more. DF wants dark blue but I'm affraid when the lights go out that it will disappear... which would you do?

wow that cake looks amazing!! we are getting married in Northern NJ instead of having a disney wedding as well, but are going to disney for our honeymoon!! if you dont mind me asking about how much is City Cakes quoting you for that custom cake? we have a great bakery in NJ and would like to go to them with a similar design but would like to know if we are being overcharged.

That is an AMAZING cake! Wow! As for the color, I do think light blue would look nicer, and make it stand out a bit more. I'm sure that a dark blue would look lovely too though.

I love the cake, but agree that 4 tiers would be nice - then you could get a REALLY cute topper for you and Aaron.

1. The rides you listed are all kind of dark rides... what about doing, it's a small world (kind of cute considering you live in the US and Aaron is in the UK), TSM (you could do the car and have the scores equal dates (like 102209 *October 22, 2009 as in the first date - whatever it may be), and then maybe... Peter Pan's boat?

2. What if the fondant started light blue at the bottom (AK), and faded to darker blue for HS (think Fantasmic!)... if that's not an option - then I vote for light blue all the way up.

Oh wow! What a fabulous cake. I can't wait to see what it looks like for real.
If you don't want to do HM on your cake what about Splash? or It's a small world?

couldn't you alternate the blues on your tiers? failing that I'd go for light blue

That cake looks like it will be amazing

Thanks!

I'm not super comfortable talking price, but if you PM maybe I can help :)

That cake is AMAZING! Can't wait to see what it looks like in the end!! Very cool!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I can't wait either :)

Oh wow...I absolutely LOVE that cake! It's amazing!

So glad you like it :)

Thanks for taking my side :rotfl:

Whoa. I can't wait to see pictures of this cake!

I'll be sure to post pics of the cake before anything else. :)

OMG! Fading could be SO fun...and a good compromise! and I love the TSM idea! Unfortunately Small World is one of my LEAST favorite rides, so that wouldn't work... but you're right about how it would be perfect to incorporate the US and UK.

OMG that is the coolest cake EVER!!! And how about doing some of the HM wallpaper???

Thanks!

I want HM because of our first date... but you're right about Splash! That splash mountain cake was awesome... now you have my wheels turning!

Love love love the cake sketch and your dress! Everything is so lovely so far! :goodvibes

Thanks! The positive feedback is making me excited!

Ok so we're naming each table after a Disney movie or one of the 4 parks and decorating it to look like the movie/park... My biggest concern is that it will look like a mess, but we'll see!

I'm still collecting things for the tables, but some of them are done already.

We're expecting to need 20 tables:

1. Cinderella
2. Snow White
3. The Little Mermaid
4. Sleeping Beauty
5. Beauty and the Beast
6. Rapunzel
7. Aladdin
8. Mulan
9. The Princess and the Frog
10. Tinkerbell
11. Pirates of the Caribbean
12. Haunted Mansion
13. UP
14. Toy Story
15. Finding Nemo
16. Lilo and Stitch
17. Magic Kingdom
18. Animal Kingdom
19. Epcot
20. Hollywood Studios

I'm not sure if I'm going to just show completed tables or works in progress to get opinions... I guess we'll see how I'm feeling :)
