We're heading over then, and our plans may of changed, again, to DL rather than the World! Change number 4 for us!

I remember on a different thread someone mentioned specials came out around Valentine's Day?

But at present on Expedia from Sydney to LA (via Melbourne!) on V Australia departing 22 Sept, returning 2 October, that's as far as I can go, is roughly $1600 for an adult. Qantas was roughly $2400 and UA about $2200.

22 September, at least in NSW is Thursday before school breaks up, which is the night after DD's school concert. I don't know if you want to or can take your kids out of school, but a couple of days earlier can save big $$$.

I just might do that, he'll only be in Prep, i'm sure 2 days won't hurt (and give us a slightly longer break )

We're thinking Grand Californian too! Couldn't type that before because DD was next to me! She's asleep now.

DD missed two days to go to DL and Vegas in NSW Kindergarten (1st formal year of schooling) and this year missed a couple of days on return. It's easier at the end of term. And taking time off to go 1/2 way around the world is good (plus you can give the teacher heaps of notice and find our what he'll be missing, you can make it up on the plane on the way over

Keep watch on sites like bestflights.com.au for when the first specials are released for this period, they are sometimes the best price and availability but even if not they give you a guide.
When considering Grand Californian consider the price of DVC rental against booking with Disney etc.

I wouldn't book now, it's too far out and fares will definitely go down between now and then. Also, when you're this far out, you're liable to experience changes in scheduling.

I'd start seriously monitoring the fares from about March. That's what I did both this year and last year and got good deals on both flights - in 2009 I looked at the end of April and this year in June.

We are planning a Disney Med Cruise / WDW extravaganza in September and my in laws are meeting us at WDW. Our travel agent advised us not to book the Sydney/Orlando flights for the in laws till February, when apparently there are good deals released.
