Mega point-holders, please indulge me

If I had a large family, I'd definitely be a mega-pointer. My purpose when I bought into DVC was to review the point charts and determine how much it would cost in the peak point seasons to stay in a 2-bedroom Boardwalk villa for 2 weeks. That's how much I bought. At the time, my family was 3, and occasionally my brother and his wife would come too - we knew by making some trips only 1 bedroom, maybe 1 solo studio stay for me, some stays being during the lower point schedules, that we could cover a good 20-25 nights per year. As my parents got older, they stopped coming as much, as my brother's family grew by 3 kids he started his own DVC, so my 440 points ended up being more than enough for my 4-5 trips a year, usually in a 1-bedroom, with banked points to roll each year.

So if I wanted to do the same thing, but instead had a family of 5-6 always coming with me, I'd need to consider 2-bedroom to 3-bedroom stays every time, and consider the highest-point seasons 'just in case', meaning I'd need to have a lot more points on hand.

We are not mega point owners, but at one time owned 850 points. When we did, we came down 2-3 times per year and only stayed in 2 bedroom villas. Now we own half the points and stay in studios a night here and there before cruises and rent the rest.

Circumstances change and kids grow up and have real jobs and the Disney trips come to an end!

Certainly not your audience, but 28 year DVC members who were up to 635 post covid. Our p oints expand and contract according to our needs. Before our son married, we were under 300 so added on to accommodate gatherings at WDW. Getting double points on those contracts allowed us longer stays in larger accommodations, so I guess that is the beauty of more points!

We built in 2023 and got rid of all 2042 contracts after spending 5 weeks at WDW in 2022. Now we are on the low side again and are trying to figure out our next move!

1. We take others with us often and as our kids get older, those other families are getting bigger too.
2. We almost always stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom but occasionally a GV.
3. Shiny new objects.
