Meeting with Consultant for First Time

Hi I am new to these boards and I am SO HAPPY I FOUND THEM!! All this great advice for planning a Disney Wedding is great! Anyways, I am not even engaged yet (he says I gotta graduate college first ), but my boyfriend and I have been dating for over four years now and we always talk about one day having a Disney Wedding . We are from Illinois and will probably be visiting WDW in June 2007. Since we live so far away we would like to look at the various locations for Disney Weddings when we visit. My question is it hard to get an appointment to meet with a consultant while down there? Do they even meet with couples who aren't engaged yet. After 2007 I don't know when the next time I'll be able to get down to Florida would be, so I think it would be a good idea to atleast see the locations, and get a general feel for things. Any suggestions? Thanks!

dftw will only meet with you if are planning a wedding in the next year from your consultation. there are so many looking at disney for weddings that they only want to meet with serious couples. guidelines are always changing though.

you can view most of the sites without a sales manager though ie seabreeze point is on the boardwalk.

I am engaged and want to marry next August 2007 in the wedding pavilion, they won't reserve my date until 8 months before!! It's very frustrating, I would say keep up with these boards and become very good friends with the Disney Wedding website, although it doesn't really tell you everything you want to know! Good luck

Yeah, I am already really good friends with Disney's Wedding website haha, it is just so general, but that is alright.
I guess we'll have to take ourselves on our own little tour to see the locations for ourselves, that can be fun.

Can you go into the Wedding Pavilion or is it off limits? And what about Franck's? Is just the bridal studio or is there more to it?

Before I was engaged (actually only had been dating for a year) my family walked over to the WP and snuck a look and my mom ordered the video from Francs'. You can do all that. Also, lots of the girls post their wedding stories and links to their videos. I did most of my planning and site checking right here before I got engaged. By the time we were engaged, I had narrowed down my locations to three and planned most of the details;-) The sites are constantly changing too...as well as the guidelines. I lurked here for about 5 months before I ever posted. We're really serious about Disney though, and now we have most of it planned except for the details. And I've learned so much so now DBF asks me questions and if I don't know, I can usually find out! We haven't even called yet cause we're not officially engaged.

He did order the DVD for me but it's a surprise, and I think the engagement is coming very soon! We're talking about next summer and it is killing me not to call! Cinderella, if you're interested, I just posted a cute little story about getting engaged on the centerpiece thread. I wanted to tell someone and I just put it there because I've been talking with those girls.

It depends on what type of wedding you are having...The DFTW staff will meet with Custom Wedding Brides as far out as 18 months before your ceremony date. For Intimate weddings, there is usually no meeting since it is a simple package and the locations can be viewed on your own.
