Meeting Mickey in Town Square question

First-timer here! We are going in two weeks and I have a question about meeting Mickey at MK. With the new park opening procedure does the line to meet Mickey build up fast? Do they let people start seeing him before official park opening (9am)? We are planning to do rope drop for the 2 days we will be at MK and have already booked all our FPs so we are trying to see what the best strategy is to meet him. Thanks!!!

Que lineup (outside the doors, in the Rotunda of the Theater) will "usually" load about 10 to 15 minutes prior to park opening but Mickey does not meet until park opening.
