Meet and Greet with Memory Maker

last year, I saw more photo pass photographers in Epcot World Showcase than ever before. This put a smile on my face, and I thanked them for our family pictures in every world very enthusiastically. I wonder if this was because I went during a more crowded time of summer (crowd level 8 instead of 7). Maybe it was part of an upward trend that I think everyone buying Memory Maker would enjoy. I also wonder if it was just extra magic dust that I should not plan on ever seeing again.

Currently I am adjusting my touring plans to include Meet and Greets at each park and it occurred to me that these allotments of time may not be recorded with pictures on my purchase of memory maker.

Three questions:
  1. Are there going to be photographers at the Peter Pan, Tiana and Naveen, Alice and white Rabbit, or Aladin and Jasmine meets in the Magic Kingdom?
  2. Are there going to be photographers at the Donald Duck at Mexico, Mulan at China, Snow White at Germany, Belle or Aurora at France, or Aladin and Jasmine at Moracco meets in Epcot?
  3. Obviously, these will take a large amount of our park time. I purchased Memory Maker so that I do not have to take pictures, but could be a part of them. If there will not be photographers, can I upload smartphone pictures to Memory Maker online for picture book, calendars, CD, etc?

The only meet and greets I'm aware of that don't have PhotoPass photographers are Mary Poppins and Tarzan, and Tarzan is generally only seen at MNSSHP.

Almost all characters have photographers, but as siskaren noted, a few don't and I don't know the rhyme or reason. At Epcot, when we met Alice, there was no photographer either.

Otherwise, I've seen photographers at all the others on your list. I like that they take many pictures of you visiting with the characters, in addition to the "stand still and say cheese" posed shot.

If you take shots with your own camera that you want to add to make calendars or photo books, you CAN upload personal photos to MM.

It was no photographer in UK for Mary Poppins and Alice that made me think to ask. If I knew which would have no photographers, I would not plan to meet them, but just hope we were in the right place at the right time.

Some of the meets on my list could be done at MK or Epcot. Are there better chances of photographers in MK compared to Epcot?

Any chance Pocahontas in Animal has a photographer?

The threads I've read here on DIS all seem to say the photos are at "nearly all" characters and there's been some discussion about Alice and Poppins and whether there are weird licensing agreements that somehow keep them separate from photographers. I've never seen those comments about other characters. In my 5 adulthood trips to WDW, with lots of character meets each time, Alice is the only one I ever saw without a photographer. I did not try to meet Mary Poppins.

I'm not aware of any meets in MK that don't have a photographer - I've only heard that about a couple in Epcot.

In addition to seeing if anyone else here has more details, kennythepirate.com has the most thorough character information on the 'net and may have details about who does/doesn't have photographers.

Honestly, there are very few characters that don't have photographers. It's not something I would worry about.

I've never met Alice, but Mary Poppins had no photographer at MK when I met her - I have read here that there is some legal reason behind no Photopass for Mary Poppins. If you run into the Green Army Men across from TSM at DHS, they won't have a photog, either, but they're kind of "random"/not a normal, structured line. I think everyone else I've met who had a regular/structured m&g has had a Photopass photog. Characterpalooza at DHS does NOT, but the CM handlers are great about taking pics. I always get Memory Maker AND have the CM handlers take pics with my phone/camera to be sure I get plenty.

I went during a slow time (mid-January ) and almost all of the character meets had a photopass photographer, except for a couple. The ones that didnt have any when i met them were: Alice in the UK, Mary and Mr. Penguin at Town Square in Magic Kingdom and the charaterpalooza in Epcot. And Stitch at Tomorrowland. I had the character attendent take photos for me.
