has anyone taken one of those weekly pill boxes in their carry-on lately? i really didn't want to take all of my pill bottles with me. i was wondering if they give you a hard time about not having the bottles with the labels? :confused3

Medications have to be in the original prescription bottles. I wouldn't chance it. Put them in your carryon bag, in those orig. bottles.

that bites... i really didn't want to lug all 8 of my scripts with me. but oh well... we all do what we gotta do.

We flew last week from ATL to MCO with the pill boxes and no Rx bottles with NO PROBLEMS. There were several threads on this subject a couple of weeks ago stating it was safe to travel only with the pill boxes. They were RIGHT!

Pills are supposed to always be in their original bottle. That isn't a specific TSA or airplane rule - just a general rule. So, yes, it is theoretically possible for someone to give you grief for having pills outside their original container.

That said, zillions of people travel every day with pills in weekly pill containers. I travel frequently and have never seen anyone questioned by TSA about their pills. I've spent a decade on travel related boards and never once heard of somebody getting in trouble from airport security for having their pills outside their bottles.

If I were you, I'd bring on the weekly pill carrier without a second thought. About the only thing I would do is have copies of the prescriptions with me - which is a good idea when traveling in any case.

Not at all a problem on a domestic flight. I do it all the time. In fact, since the 8/10 rules went into effect, it may make for less hassle, as a "gelcap" won't become an issue unless it is in a bottle that is labeled that way.

The only time I've ever had pill-form meds questioned was when dealing with Customs when entering another country, and that was only because they didn't recognize the pill in question and thought that it might be a controlled substance. Showing them the copy of the scrip took care of the issue. As Sal said, carry copies of your scrips and you will be fine anywhere. (You can get the copies from your pharmacy, either in "duplicate" label form or as a printed list.)

Under the 8/10 rules, Rx liquids or creams must be in Rx labeled containers and declared, which means that you tell the TSA that you have some.
