Medical travel insurance question:

My company coverage only includes $50,000 worth of coverage per person. So was looking to add some coverage. Could someone recommend a company and approx. cost. we will be gone for 10 days and there are 4 of us.

I don't know where you are located, but Pacific Blue Cross (BC) sells a good one. My DH's extended health already has really high coverage with PBC, but I usually buy a supplementary policy with them. You can't be too careful traveling to the US. I find it a better value to get an annual policy through them than per trip, and then we're covered for multiple trips and border hops. Last time I calculated it, it was $65 for the trip or $96 for a full year. Usually covers trips up to 15 day. Of course prices will depend on your ages, number of people in your family etc.

CAA also sells good travel medical policies. They probably have an annual one too, but I'm not sure

I got mine through my BMO Mastercard. I think it was $96.00/year for medical and some travel. It covered multiple trips yearly, with all trips being under 14 days.

We used PCFinancial Insurance for our trip last week. You can get a price online.

We ended up having to use it and were very surprised at how well it worked out. We called an 1-800 number here back in Canada and were expecting to get a run-around (insurance companies have a reputation for that) but instead got a response of "Don't worry, you can either go see Dr. X right now, or wait 2 hours and have Dr. Y come visit you at your resort room." We chose option B and 2 hours later had a great doctor come visit us at our All Star Music room.

Thanks for the info. Booked thru PC financial. For the 4 of us (kids under 12 are free) was $44 for the 10 days. Blue cross wanted $104.

We ended up having to use it and were very surprised at how well it worked out. That's good to know! My son fell at WDW in September & probably could have used a stitch but we weren't sure if we wanted to deal with the rigamaroll of using the insurance (we buy thru CAA) so we used some steristrips to hold the cut together instead of dealing with the hospital. Regardless the cut looks fine so we were good with just a steristrip but if ever need to call the insurance company it's nice to know you didn't get the run around.

Wow! That is great...thanks so much for the info. I was sourcing additional insurance through CAA and now it sounds like this is a better and more reasonable option.

I have used BCAA in the past. Never had to use it, thankfully. We now have travel coverage incl with CIBC Visa card, for up to 2 weeks travel per trip.
I hope it is good. I believe they use Cooperators.
