Okay, I need to know what this is.
My cousin passed away over the week-end and the report just came back today and they said she died in her sleep from a pulmonary aneurysm.
I tried to google it but all I got was a bunch of jibberish. At least that's what it seemed like to me. I need a bare bones, simple explaination that I can understand. Can anyone help me out on this one? Please.

I am freaking out. She was in her mid forties and had gastric bypass surgery 3 or 4 years ago. She was more active than ever and thinner than ever. The thought that she could just go to sleep and never wake up is terrifying. :worried:

are you sure you don't mean pulmonary embolism?? That is a blood clot in your lung. Blood clots are very dangerous. I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. Prayers.

I think you may mean pulmonary embolism. That is where you get a blood clot formed (usually in the legs) that breaks loose and travels to the lungs. It is often fatal. It can also go to the heart, brain or other places and cut off blood supply. This can happen to absolutely anyone. You can develop a clot after sitting too long on a plane or in a car. Some people are more prone to developing these.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

aneurysm - a ballooning of a major artery between layers of the outer wall. As blood seeps into it is gets bigger and bigger until eventually it bursting the outer wall and the person bleeds to death. pulmonary = lungs (where it occurs) COuld have been the pulmonary artery that had the anuerysm.

Hmmm. Now I don't know. I got this info second hand from my Grandma and it's possible she made a mistake. Maybe that would make more sense, because when I tried to Google the other I got nothing that made sense.

Thanks for the info. And the thoughts/prayers.

She had a 14 yr old DD who is now without a mom. People shouldn't die young. It's not fair to those left behind. And not from something like this. So fast and with no warning. Her DD spent the night at a friends house and came home only to have her father tell her her mom was dead. It's not right. :(

Well,thanks.

I'm so sorry about your cousin. My dad had a pulminary embolism this last July. He survived, we don't know how, but he did. They found 3 clots! Should have killed him instantly, any one of the 3 could have! My dad is in great health, he runs 6 miles a day 6 days a week and has for years. It can happen to anyone!

Sorry for your loss.

DH just went through this in Dec. His symptoms were shortness of breath and dizziness. He never said a word to me and went to work. His brother works at the same place and drove him home. If DH hadn't had a heart attack 5 years earlier, we might have waited. Luckily we didn't and DH made it through.

Wow, both your stories are very scary and I'm glad in both cases that it worked out and everyone is alive and well. These sort of things that can happen to anyone at any time with little or no warning are the things nightmares are made of.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Hi sorry to hear about your cousin. I think that is what killed JOhn Ritter.
I had a brain aneurysm in 2003, I'm in my 40's they told me its an artery thats weak and usually bursts but mine just leaked into my brain a really bad headache!! (was the symptom) but it usually does just explode and the person dies. At least she didn't suffer! Thats how I would want to go. I know it hurts, but time heals all wounds and soon you'll remember the good times with her!

I know. I'm okay. But no girl should have to grow up with out her mother. Well nothing you can do except appreciate each day right? Thank-you. :)
