Just arrived at Pop Century and I'm 99% sure I've got a UTI. Where's the closest clinic? I don't have a car, so I'll need a cab. Also, because if that, I'd prefer one where I can pick up a prescription like a CVS or Walgreens clinic. Thanks!!!

There is one just down from the DTD hotels. Centra Care.

centracare.org

(407) 934-2273 - 12500 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL

I think they even offer transportation there and back to Disney resorts. They have an onsite pharmacy.

There is a service that will send a doctor to your room. I used them twice (unfortunately) but they were a life saver! The doctors brought along all the common tests and prescriptions (DD had strep, then DS got an ear infection with a raging fever). They arrived within a couple of hours, and gave me all the paperwork to file with our insurance (we got reimbursed, which actually surprised me).

They're called East Coast Medical Network - www.themedicalconcierge.com or you can reach them at 407-648-5252.

It was great since I didn't have a car (we were at the Dolphin) and didn't want to take sick kids to an ER where we'd have to wait (it always seems to take a while). I highly recommend them!!

If you have a family doc at home, you might call him and ask for a script to be called in for you. The front desk should have the number for a pharmacy that delivers, (did this our last trip!) good luck!

Out of curiosity how much something like that cost out of pocket? Being from Canada, it's always nice to have an idea of how much something costs in case we need it.

THIS. This is what our doctor tells us to do. Just have the number of a pharmacy that takes your insurance. Quick, easy and WAY less expensive!!!

I think it was about $250 or so - but, we called late at night so there was an extra charge (that was paid for by my insurance company - surprised me!). It was a few years back, so honestly I don't recall completely.

It was definitely a lot less than an emergency room visit would have been. Also a lot more comfortable to have my child wait lying in bed watching tv with a high fever than taking a taxi to a hospital then waiting - I would have not been to disappointed if we weren't paid back by insurance.

Also, I would check with travel insurance. It may be worth it to buy in case. We bought it for our Disney cruise, and sure enough, my DS got severe bronchitis (he has asthma anyway, but high fever and breathing problems so they did treatments and put him on antibiotics) - the travel insurance paid us back for the ship doctor visits.

DD got a terrible stomach bug on our last trip. We called the front desk and they gave us the info for a pharmacy that delivers to the resorts. I cannot remember the name right now, but I believe there is only the one. I imagine the Urgent Care could get your script to them and they could deliver if you were desperate enough. They charged a delivery feed but it wasn't outrageous.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks to everyone! I ended up using the free transportation and went to Centra Care. Scheduled an appointment online and was in and out in about 45 minutes. UTI is much better now! So glad I went!
