Not sure if this is the right forum, but does anyone out there know if Disney has a medical center or doctors onsite ?? Any info or experience with this would be appreciated. Thanks.

All the parks have first aid areas, with nurses on staff. We went to the one at epcot a few weeks ago. It is very nice. I don't think they would handle major emergencies, but that's what 911 is for. Off property are walk in clinics, and a hospital.

They do not, however there are doctor-on-call services who will make housecalls at WDW. The front desk (at OKW) had leaflets for two of them and the EMTs recommended another service, which we used.
Doctor was prompt, personable, knowledgable. He contacted a pharmacy which was still open at 10 pm and would deliver the drugs he did not carry with him.
Drugs were delivered to the front desk, charged to the room account, and our phone light lit up.
I wish I could remember the name of the service. We had contacted at least one of the other services before calling the EMTs and weren't impressed with the level of customer service they offered.
Can't say enough about the EMTs from Reedy Creek Fire Department either. Everyone was just great!
(I'll edit this with the name of the service we used if I can locate it.)

When DD was around 5 we were staying at the Cont she got up one morning with a high fever. DH called the front desk asking them if they knew a clinic we could take her to and they told us not to worry they would have someone there soon. A doctor showed up in about 20 minutes, he was wonderful with her, he was older and we figured this was probably his retirement job. Told her Minnie and got up with a fever too and she had probably got it from her. He was fun but anyway, looked at her throat said it was probably streep, he said even if its not she's on vacation and she needs to feel better fast, so he went ahead and gave her an antibiotic. She felt better by that afternoon, I had to pay full price, $90.00, he gave me a receipt, I came home mailed in to insurance and they gave me back full payment minus co-pay. Oh yea he even had medicine with him so that was also included, small pills we halved and she could swallow so we didn't have to worry about refridgerator. About 30 minutes after he left front desk called to make sure he came and then later that night he called back and checked on her. I was very impressed and when I say we were at Cont we weren't at the towers then we were in the cheap seats. this has been a while but hopefully the doctor care is the same. :)

As stated, there are first aid stations at all four theme parks and at the water parks. We had an encounter way back in 1996 with our then 13 year old son. We went onto Alien Encounter for the first time and there was a puff of air that just messed with our son's contacts. He ended up scratching his eye. He didn't say anything until we got off Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. He was miserable. We took him to the first aid place and while they couldn't do anything for him, they did direct us to an offsite place. They even offered to get him there via shuttle but we had a car. The offsite places don't take insurance - you have to file a claim after you get back - but they were great! Son was fitted with an eye patch, we paid the money and were grateful it wasn't anything more serious. We had to go back the next day (no charge) and make sure everything was fine. It was. We still kid the now grown up son about this all the time. Only he can get his eye scratched by a puff of air!

We had to call the Reedy Creek paramedics on our Sept trip when my son whacked his head/eye against the plywood under the mattreses at POFQ. Right away the head of housekeeping came, then 2 lifeguards on duty and finally the guys from RC. It was great peace of mind to know that Ian was a ok and we were able to go to the parks later that night. Without such good service, I could have easily seen us going to an off site clinic and spending a fortune to tell us he was fine. He had quite a bruiser for the rest of the trip though.

If you have a chronic illness or are pregnant, I'd suggest getting the name of a referral doctor in your specialty in the Orlando area. I always have the name of an oncologist with me when we go.

Last year's Easter trip we all got sick. Our doc from home called in some meds to I think Turner Drugs. They are great. My dad was sick once and went to Celebration Hospital............ HUGE wait, like 12 to 15 hours. On thata Easter trip, I ended up in the hospital as well and did NOT go to Celebration. We went to one not much farther away called, I think, Sand Lake Hospital. they were excellent! I would definitely use them again.

Hope that helps!

My husband, my son and I all have gone to Centra Care while we were at WDW. It's a walk in clinic over near DTD, but closer to Goodings. I was just there last Jan when I couldn't stop coughing and had a touch of pneumonia.
