Does anyone know if there is any kind of a clinic or urgency care on the properties at WDW? We leave on Saturday and my daughter has been suffering with an ear infection and is on her third course of antibiodics. We were just trying to plan ahead and see if needed, if there was anything on the property, we are flying in and are not renting a car for the week, so we are concerned!! Any input is appreciated!!

Thanks!

there aren't actually on Disney property, but there are several very close nearby urgent care centers that are under Florida Hospital. When you check in, ask the front desk cm for a map of the urgent care centers. They will be able to show you which one is the closest. And about the lack of vehicle, they offer a shuttle that will pick you up and bring you back. Hope that helps!:thumbsup2

Last year, my DD got a 104 degree fever and needed antibiotics. We were at SSR and the front desk gave us a Medical facility to call. The doctor came to our room and even brought drugs with her or she offered to give us a RX and take it where we wanted. We did not have to wait at all. We called at 7am and she came to our room at 8am.

I think I paid $160 for the doctor visit and then $100 for 2 perscriptions. I submitted it to my insurance and they reimbursed me all of it. I was surprised because I called my insurance company and they told me they would not cover it unless I went to the ER.

There was no way I was going to spend part of my vacation in the ER. Even if Insurance didn't pay, I thought it was worth it.

Is there a way your doctor would write you a refill for you to bring just in case?

I know there are options around WDW. But if you can have a back up, it may make it easier.

I just wanted to add from experience, that if your dd needs this many rounds of anti-biotics that you want to make sure she is also taking probiotics. If you get a chance, look it up on the internet. Culturelle is a really good one and is even safe for babies. I had to take quite a few rounds of anti-biotics due to sinus infections, and I eventually ended up with c. diff, an infection in your intestines. I thought that eating yogurt would be enough to prevent any problems, and I never knew that c diff could be so bad. It is caused by the anti-biotics killing all of the helpful good bacteria in your gut. You want to load her up with yogurt and also a probiotic pill. For my dd, I usually break open the capsule and put it in applesauce or yogurt. Sorry to butt in. I just try to mention it to people because once you have c.diff, you are prone to getting it again if you ever need anti-biotics, and it is NO FUN. Hopefully since you are researching and prepared, she will be fine and won't need more meds.

During our last visit my 6 yr old son complained about ear pain during our flight (he was in tears!) and by the second night woke up crying in pain again, we were at AKL and the front desk arranged free transportation to the clinic where he was seen next morning and got antibiotics for ear infection. Doctor there suggested decongestant before flying and pain medication, even with that he was in pain on the flight back but not as bad as to make him cry.
Hope your daughter gets better and does not experience discomfort during the fly there.

We were at disney world last week and my daughter got very ill, she wouldnt eat or drink anything for over 24 hours so we ended up taking her to Celibration hospital(florida hospital) we were staying at the all stars and the cab was $18 on the way there and $14 going back to the resort,

I have the book _The_Complete_Idiot's_Guide_To_Walt_Disney_World and they list a physician's group that makes house calls to the resorts 407-238-2000 and also that Turney Drugs delivers. 407-828-8125

When my son was 10(my baby..he's 16 now!:rotfl: ) he had a fever and a BAD throat. We had the Dr. come to the room at the WL. He was GREAT! As mentioned in earlier post, they even brought medication with them. Although he had been on Amoxicillian..and now they wanted him on something stronger. Called it in to pharmacy and it was delivered to the room. It is a bit expensive, but it was worth not having to take him out of the room. Of course, it's not covered by insurance.
