My DS4 has hemophilia, and he'll be taking his first flight on our way down to Disney World Oct. 14! :goodvibes

I fly constantly, so I'm very familiar with security procedures...but I've never had to clear security with a Medic Alert bracelet. Has anyone had problems with their bracelet setting off the scanner? We don't like to take it off if we can help it, but I'd rather take it off than subject my son to a pat down if there is a problem.

Please let me know your experiences, and thanks for your help!

Last couple of times I forgot to take mine off before going through and it didn't set it off. He should be okay! If it does, just have them wand his arm with the bracelet, the alarm on the wand will go off, and then they will send him on his way. (providing he doesn't have an alarm anywhere else ;) ) Have a good trip!

I never take mine off unless its absolutely necessary for surgery or another procedure. I've never had a problem with going through security.

I've had problems with the underwire in my bra setting off the metal detector, but never my med alert bracelet :)

All three of my kids wear them and they're has never been a problem. My oldest dd can't go through the metal detector because of a cardiac implant so she gets the wand. I remember dd8 going through the full body scanner but ds11 and I just went through the regular metal detectors. We did get held up on the way home because of ds Harry Potter wand in his carry on..not sure what they thought it was.
