Local meat market has various freezer plans, but I have a really hard time figuring out if they are a deal or not. Is there a formula to figure it out?
Here's an example
$72.99 FREEZER PLAN "B"
3 LBS. SIRLOIN PORK CHOPS
3 LBS. GROUND CHUCK
1 ROAST CHICKEN
4 LBS. ROAST BEEF
2 LBS. STEW BEEF
2 LBS. BURGERS
2 LBS. ALL BEEF FRANKS
2 LBS. HOT OR MILD SAUSAGE
2 LBS. CHICKEN LEG QUARTERS

If you are used to eating only grain fed, penned cow and you get grass fed (and thus free range) cow, the difference in taste can be quite unnerving. Also, you can be pretty sure that, in this case, the butcher isn't giving you the best cows he's slaughtered that fall into the grass fed category.
