That wasn't really my point. I am not doubting that you are at risk at DL. My doubt is that it is only in DL. Obviously those who have the disease now went somewhere else in the area in addition to DL. There isn't something "non"magical at DL that is causing it to spread there and there alone. It will spread from other places those people went too, like an airport or the mall or the grocery store. So the point is if you are wanting to avoid it I don't think you should go to S. CA at all. Going and avoiding DL only isn't necessarily going to mean you are safe.

Ah, yes. If you don't live in the area...I would definitely avoid it all together.

We have have a couple cases of measles that have popped up here in Nebraska. So...yeah...not cool. One of the people with it was at the Children's Museum for hours. Just lovely.

There have been no confirmed cases of airport employees, or military base personnel, etc. who have contracted measles. HOWEVER, there are multiple cases of employees of Disneyland who have or have had the disease. This makes DL inherently more dangerous than the rest of SoCal for those that are unvaccinated. Which is why public health officials and doctors are saying to stay away from DL, specifically.

Hope that clears up the confusion.

For those of you with little babies, I think you're making the right call to steer clear of Disney at this time.

I watch the So.Cal's local channel 7 news everyday. On the 11pm news they talked about the measles outbreak.

Disneyland was briefly mentioned. However, the focus was now on a bank I believe in Camarillo.

At least this new station is reviewing the facts about Spread, Signs, Symptoms of Measles. Vaccinations were encouraged to those of the public Un-Vaccinated.

I was curious and called Disneyland this morning. The CM on the phone told me the outbreak occurred last month not this month according to news reports. All 5 cast members affected are still at home and that DL is safe. She said they can't control who comes in there, this just isn't isolated problem at Disney it could be anywhere.

I have my shots, and I'LL BE AT DISNEYLAND IN LESS THAN 24 HRS FOR TWO DAYS! Its been 4 years and I can't wait!

I agree with this. Why anyone would want their child to go through an illness like this to gain immunity when there's a vaccine readily available is just asinine.

Agreed! Cuz you know things like encephilitis are REAL fun!

I applaud Disney for taking the measures they have with their CM's in trying to prevent this from getting even worse than it is.

Checked with my son's dr today and she said if it is still a concern in February we can run a titers on him, but he had his first dose of MMR 2 years ago and she thinks he will be fine.

We talked to our son's doctor and he is too young to be tested for immunity. And they don't do the 2nd shot until he is 4 years old (he's 16 months now.) She said we should be fine at Disneyland.

We called our own doctor's and will be going in on Monday to see if we (my husband and I) are still immune. If not, we'll get boosters and reschedule.

Yea your sons a lot closer to his first round so he should be fine. My son had his two years ago, and although she said he should be fine, if I want (totally up to me) to have his titers done if this is still an issue in California then I can.

It can take up to 2 weeks to be fully effective and it's not something I am willing to risk. So at least I'm doing MY PART, to keep those that WON'T vaccinate at less risk of getting this horrible disease. The more and more I think about it the more angry I get. I'm driving all over town getting blood tests and booster shots when I should be at work all because of an outbreak that could have "somewhat" avoided.

Yeah, he just had his 4 months ago. And the CDC site says 95% of people are immune after the first dose. So I feel like his odds are getting measles are pretty slim. And there's not really anything else we can do for him at this point except never leave the house (since measles is showing up in our town now.)

I actually just spoke to my mom and she pulled my records. I had my first show at age 1 in 1982. And then I had a 2nd one in 1996. So now I'm wondering if I should ever bother with getting my immunity checked before vacation.

I'm tagging along with BFFs work trip next week. It was supposed to be held at the Grand Californian so I was so excited for the invite. She got word last night that they are moving the whole conference to Irvine and have transferred all reservations there because of the measles outbreak I'm so upset. I would have passed on the trip if it wasn't right in Disneyland, but now I'm stuck either eating my plane ticket or paying for a shuttle to/from the parks (I priced the blue vans and it was $80 roundtrip!!) I called the airline (United), and no help there unless there is a travel advisory (like Ebola/weather). I think we will book our last night or two at the Grand Californian after her conference is over.

I'm so not excited for this trip. Each week there were more and more closures/lack of entertainment, last week they called me to cancel my Cafe Orleans res since that's now closed during my trip. Now this Yeah, I know, I'm being a baby and things of course could be worse.

My DD is now 5.5 years and just to be safe, I booked her in for her final round of immunizations for MMR and all of her aged 4 to 6 shots for next week.

Prefer safe than sorry especially when traveling outside the country.

Our family was going to book flights yesterday to join us on the trip, but I don't want them to do that yet in case we back out and they lose their money. I am bummed because this is a make up trip that we just re-booked after we had to cancel a trip in November because my son was sick. We are jinxed, haha! If it was just my husband and I without our little ones, I would be there in a heartbeat right now- I bet the crowds are really thinned out.

I knew it! I told our family that they should still go without us, but they don't really have an interest in Disneyland and are really only going because they want to be with our kids (and I think they know I will do all the planning/coordinating).

We were at Disneyland Jan 4-7 with my 9 month old. We all have a cold now, but it's been 4 days and no rash. Everyone has been vaccinated except the baby. We bought APs and are heading back for Spring Dapper Day. Asking our pediatrician about the safety of taking my LO to Disney never even crossed my mind. I don't think it's extra dangerous. The only problem would be if a lot of CMs catch it; otherwise, it's all about whomever happens to be visiting the park that day.
