Am I crazy or does Mears charge $150 roundtrip for a group of 6 (on van with other passengers making stops) while Tiffany towncar you can have your own car for $90 round trip...am I missing something?

Mears is around $27 per person (adult) roundtrip, I believe. That would average out to almost $150. Usually, when you have more than 3 in your party, a town car service can be cheaper. However, I am not sure about having '6' passengers, I just remember reading that the towncars hold four, in addition to the driver. You might have to go with a larger vehicle if your party is 6. I know Tiffany's van rates (big vans, not minivans) cost $105 roundtrip, which is still much cheaper than Mears, and much less hassle. They also have a $5-off coupon on their website. www.tiffanytowncars.com

thank you Candace, I thought I had figured something incorrectly, I thought it was too good to be true :) I'm happy to know a van is still cheaper than mears shuttle if you have more than a few people.

Tiffany town car was wonderful!! You will have great service and no waiting around for the Mears shuttle to stop at other locations. You won't be disappointed!

There's no catch... we used Tiffany last August and loved it - we will never use Mears again! You've figured it out correctly... it is more expensive for 6 people to take Mears than to get a van from Tiffany. They have quoted me $95 for a van to WL (that's round-trip) and they have a $5 off coupon on their website or if you have a passporter, they have an $8 off coupon in them. It's a great deal, especially if you take advantage of the free 30 minute grocery stop (we bought breakfast stuff, and a bottle of liquor and that in itself saved a bunch of money).

It's also pretty cool to come down the escalator at the airport and see the guy standing there holding a sign with your name on it.

The only extra thing you'd have to think about is tipping the driver for loading and unloading your luggage... we always tipped the Mears driver, so this part didn't change for us.

Now that we've used Tiffany, we would never go back to the shuttle - it wastes too much time and they cram the people in there like sardines.

Enjoy your trip whichever way you decide to go - but be warned, once you use Tiffany, you'll be too spoiled to go back to using Mears!

We have used Tiffany for the past 3 years, excellent service. The driver was always there waiting on us, even when the flight arrived early. There are only three of us so we use the towncar, great ride.

It is reccommended to tip 20%, but I normally tip $10 each way when I have 2 people. I then add about $2 per person after that. For 4 people and a van, I tipped $15 each way last year.

TTC's policy is that you should request the grocery stop at the time you make your reservations...I always make sure the stop is confirmed in an e-mail.

Let me echo the others who say that Tiffany's van is the way to go. We used it this past August, also from MCO to WL and again from WL to SeaWorld. Worth every cent.
We tipped $10 each way which seemed well-received. Even though the driver can take a credit card, one of them told us the driver has to pay a fee when a cc is used? Ever since, we have paid them with cash and requested a receipt.

I'm thinking about using Tiffany for a one-way trip from AKL to the Orlando airport as we are arriving in Tampa (to visit my brother and then renting a car to get to AKL).

That being said, how far in advance do you have to make reservations for a one-way trip? Can I just do this the day before we leave for the airport?

Thanks!!

I would think that Tiffany would have to pay the fee not the driver...although if you charge the tip they would probably minus the fee from that (isn't it like 1.75% or so?). We usually tip the driver $10.00 each way in cash for a total of $20.00 for 2 adults and one child and charge the actual fee for the Towncar. We tip each way because someone told me they once had a different driver, but ours has always been the same one. I would probably add more if we made a grocery stop.

Sounds like Tiffany is the way to go! I would have assumed Mears would be cheaper since you're sharing a van and making stops. I just reserved travel from Tiffany with a grocery stop, I cant' wait to see the man holding our name sign (it takes so little to thrill me)...WOO-HOO!

I'll add to these sentiments. TTC is wonderful. We booked a towncar with our last trip but low and behold up pulled a gorgeous white stretch limo instead. Apparently they were low on towncars that day so we got to ride in the lap of luxury to and from our hotel. (we requested the same guy for the return trip) He even put on a disney video for the kids to watch on the way there~they were in heaven.:sunny:

Oh great, now you have my hopes up :) That would be thrilling! My daughter's have friends that have rented limo's for 10th birthday parties (go figure), we told our girls we'd rent a limo for prom and wedding! But a "free" limo would be a nice surprise...then the girls can say they've been in one too :) They'd think the Beverly Hillbillies were riding in it, I know we'd all be squealing :)

I just booked with Tiffany for our unexpected trip next week. I hope they are everything that all of you have described. We will be back in June and I will probably use them again if all goes well.

My sister and I are going to surprise my neice (sisters daughter). She will be there performing with her high school dance team. She has a solo on Sunday (3-7-04). We will not be able to stay long for the awards so I have asked if the driver can pick us up at WWS and then go by the resort and get our luggage. They said no problem...so I hope it works out.
