i hope it's ok to mention Mears name here....anyway, according to Mears website it would cost us $16 per person for a roundtrip to Universal from AS Sports. Am I reading it correctly? Also for anyone who has used Mears attractions transportation, is there a set pick up time or could I request my own pickup time?

i thought it was $17, but you're probably right. something like that anyway.

you schedule a pickup time at least a day in advance, i think it was every hour at the bottom of the hour. then you call to schedule the return time at least 2 hours ahead.

So if I wanted to be at Universal by 9:00AM I would arrange it for 8:00AM is that correct? Is this a reliable way to go? We were going to get a rental for a couple of days but it would probably be about the same price for 4 of us, and we wouldn't have the headache of driving.

well, i'm thinking your options are more like 7:30 or 8:30, but yeah, i'd give myself a good 40 mins. they're gonna drop you off by the passenger drop off and from there, it's a little stroll down to city walk, then the parks.

We did this last year and it worked out fine, when you're ready to go back to your hotel they give you a phone # to call, I think it was a hour before we ready to go back. And they have a certain place they pick you up at.

For approximately $70.00 you can get a car service to take you or even a taxi to take you over and one to bring you back. That way you won't put yourself on a schedule dictated by transportation.

I ditto the suggestion for a taxi or a town car. Depending on how many people are in your group, it may be about the same price -- or maybe even cheaper. Mears will have a set schedule of departures -- when we were there, there was only one time available to get to Universal in the morning. There'll be other people in the shuttle with you. You'll probably stop at other resorts to pick up additional people, and could stop at Sea World on the way there or back.

Taxi fare is the same regardless of how many people are in your group. (If you've got too many for a car, get one of the mini-van ones. The fare is the same.)

Also, if you want to shave a little off the taxi fare, you can take Disney transportation to either Downtown Disney or Saratoga Springs Resort. These are the closest locations to Universal, and there fare will be cheaper.
