I'm going on a last minute trip to WDW on Friday. I'm meeting my husband at ASSp and he already has a car but can't pick me up. So, I thought I would take the Mears Shuttle one-way with my 4 year old DD. I'll be arriving mid-day.

How many stops does the shuttle take to the All Stars? Have you been on the shuttle to the All Stars and stopped at other hotels to the route other than the All Stars? I called Mears and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. I really hate busses. I short ride would be fine, but my BIL said it took him almost 2 hours to get to OKW from the airport! I would be frazzled.

I am still thinking of renting a car for a day, but rates are through the roof :(.

Robin--Mears will try to fill up the bus/van. The number of stops will vary depending on the destinations of the guests. It isn't a set schedule. I would think there would be enough AllStar guests so you shouldn't get a tons of stops BUT you never know.

Hi Robin,
We've used mears few years ago and they stop at least 4 to 5 times before getting to your hotel. Last time we tried premier towncar they were great. Good rates too I think it was 80 or 85 dollars roundtrip. The website is www.premiertowncar.com.

Have a wonderful time in Disney.....:D

I have taken Mears a few times. On one trip we were the second resort to be dropped off. The longest we had to wait to dropped of is a ½ hour once the bus got to the rsort area and started to drop off pasengers.

My MIL and FIL always take Mears.
As someone else mentioned, they try to fill up a bus (or van). usually MIL and FIl have been on a 10 passenger van or a small shuttle bus. How many stops there are before getting to your resort depends on how many passengers they have and where all the passengers are going. My MIL and FIL have sometimes had 4 stops, sometimes they were first. it depends on where the other guests are going and what is the most logical route to let everyone off. That's why Mears couldn't give you a straight answer; each ride is different.

Ditto what everyone else said.
It is cheaper- so I will only use Mears when it's only MYSELF, I don't care about getting to the resort quickly (for instance on my upcoming solo trip I arrive late at night- so it doesn't matter to me how long it takes to get to my hotel), and when I want to really save money (like on my solo trip).

How many stops does the shuttle take to the All Stars? Have you been on the shuttle to the All Stars and stopped at other hotels to the route other than the All Stars?
My answer to those questions:
Lots
Yes... they stop at other hotels on the route if they have others to drop off.
They also have you wait until the van/bus is filled before they leave to take you... and they sure did fill it... cramped going both ways (to/from resort) :(

Thanks everyone!

I think going to the All Stars is better than other resorts because there is less driving between all of them and maybe they would drop Sports off first ;). Of course, if they have some AKL people they would be dropped off first and I would be dropped off last! Oh my!

I checked out Dollar and I can book a car for about $35 for the day, less than $10 more than the Mear's shuttle. But ... any time I would save by driving over Mear's would be sucked up by returning the car to the Courtyard on Hotel Blvd once I meet up with my DH :(. This is a *quick* 2 1/2 day trip!

Oh well ... I think I'll take the Mear's and keep my finger's crossed that the ride isn't too terrible. Too bad I threw out all those Mears coupons when I booked my DVC vacations :(.

What about using a town car for "one way"? I've noticed that a least the ones I've checked also offer one way service to (or from) the resorts.

tigger&tigerlover,

Thanks for the suggestion, but Happy Limo is $45 one way (plus tip), compared to $26 for Mears and $35 for a car. I'm also cheap :).

I'm in the same boat, going solo to All Star Sports. I've been weighing taking a town car or Mears but I think I will take Mears and save myself a ton of money. I don't have a lot planned for my day of arrival (Oct. 1 at about 10am), although it would be nice not to waste too much time in taking Mears.

My last night will be at an off-site hotel so at least I won't feel that I'm having to leave WDW "6" hours ;) before my flight! I even managed to scrounge up a Mears $3.00 coupon for the return trip!

Robin - I think you mentioned going with your DD - will she be taking Mears also? if so, you have to figure in her ticket.

megrod74, she has figured her daughter in, she only has to take it one way, that price is about $26 or $28 dollars for the two of them one way.

oh, right - one way - I forgot  as you can see, it's late;)

I used to always use Mears. The one and only time I took them to an All-Star, we were the only ones on the bus.

I just wanted to update folks :).

I ended up renting a compact car from Dollar for a day. It was $35 with taxes, tolls and gas for a Neon (base rate of $24). I was very happy I rented a car instead of the shuttle. For $9 more, I was able to leave the airport right away, make a quick grocery stop (less than 20 minutes!) on my way to ASSp and drive to the Dolphin to meet my DH for dinner that night at Shulas. After IllumiNations we drove to the Courtyard on Hotel Blvd, dropped the car in a Dollar parking place and the keys in the after-hours drop off box. Easy, easy, easy.

My DH dropped us at the airport on Monday morning for my return flight on his way into his contract.
