Anyone have experience with Mears? Also, approximate cost from WDW to MCO? Grandma's flight departs earlier than ours so she won't be taking the towncar back with us, and she's nervous about taking a taxi in a "big city".

Any helpful ideas?

Thanks!

All I know is that Mears is NOT a favorite on this board, so you won't get many favorable replies. When we checked, Mears uses busses, and they have a 2-3 hour window of operation, because they stop in several places along a certain route. For example, to get to MCO by 8am, they would probably tell you they would pick you up as early as 5-6am. A CM at BWV told me it took her 3 hours to get from MCO to BWV! That is excessive, in my book. They are probably cheaper, but that is why.

As far as price, it depends on where you are leaving from, the mileage. We (2) took a taxi from the Boardwalk to MCO, and it was $45, plus tip. It would be that no matter how many were in the van. As far as safety, the taxi's are licensed, and authorized to be on Disney property, so they are as safe as any public transportation you could take.

I had no idea! I'd only heard of them, and thought this would be the best place to ask. I guess we'll have to convince Grandma that a taxi is safe!;)

I think in your situation and if you are trying to save $, Mears would be a good choice for one person. We have used them a couple times. Each time we left MCO within 10 minutes, so not a long wait in our experience anyway. We did have to make a few stops, but there were only 2 other families in the van.

It would cost Grandma only $17 one way from MCO to WDW resort using Mears. A cab would be much higher, I believe.

While I highly recommend NOT using Mears from resort BACK TO MCO, I would use them from MCO to WDW if there were only one or two people in your party and you were trying to save $.

We used mears last monday to get from the POP to MCO and they were right on time and had a van ready to pick us and the other passengers up.- no problems

Is gramdma okay to handle her own bags? Mears just unloads them at the door then it is up to you. We don't care for the cattle hearding feeeling we get with Mears.
